For Instant Happiness, Watch the Moment This Basketball Fan Learns He Might Meet Giannis Antetokounmpo

June 04, 2019

5 weeks and 1,000+ shots made, we’re down to 4 finalists for the world’s biggest game of horse. And if that wasn’t enough, Metro is rolling the roundball out for 40 NBA reporters in a showdown for hardcourt bragging rights.

Metro by T-Mobile today announced the finalists for the World’s Biggest Game of H-O-R-S-E and the 1st Annual Metro Media Jam

What’s the news

We’re down to four: Metro by T-Mobile announced the four finalists in the world’s biggest game of H-O-R-S-E, who will face off in a live tournament in the Bay Area on Wednesday, June 5. Plus, Metro's putting on a hoops tournament for media who cover the NBA and livestreaming it for the world to see!

Why it matters

It’s a special time for basketball fans in general, but it just got a LOT more special for these basketball-mad sharpshooters who get a trip to the Bay Area for a chance to compete their way to a meet-and-greet with Giannis Antetokounmpo during a Metro by T-Mobile ad shoot.

Who it’s for

Giannis fans, people in the finalists’ hometowns (Dallas, GA, Willingboro, NJ, New York City and Barnesville, MN) and anyone who loves to see a basketball fan get the chance of a lifetime—so everyone!

Five weeks, 2.7 million views, and 1,000+ amazing basketball shots later, Metro’s H-O-R-S-E tournament is nearing its conclusion. Today, Metro by T-Mobile (NASDAQ: TMUS) announced the four finalists who will square off in the Bay Area in a live H-O-R-S-E tournament for a chance to meet MVP candidate and Milwaukee Bucks star, Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The best part? Breaking the news to each of the finalists that they're going to the Bay Area to compete and get a chance see Golden State take on Toronto live in the finals. Pure joy and happiness. Care of Metro's nationwide 4G network, H-O-R-S-E captain Tristan Jass video called finalist Davon King to tell him the good news. It’s impossible to get through the video without smiling ear to ear!

But Davon isn’t the only one who got the call of the lifetime. Metro is proud to announce all four finalists. These finalists have been faithfully following H-O-R-S-E captains - Tristan Jass, Jesser, Kris London, and Cash - on Instagram for the last five weeks and submitting shots from gyms, driveways, and outdoor courts. Davon knew he had to enter as soon as his brothers sent him the tournament videos on Instagram. Even though he’s a full-time college student with a part-time job, he still found time every week to match Tristan’s H-O-R-S-E shots as soon as they were posted on Instagram.

"I've been hooping my entire life. All those shots in the driveway and hours upon hours of pick-up finally paid off! This the highlight of my basketball life, for sure," said Davon King, Georgia-native and tournament finalist.

This is just the beginning as Metro makes good on the promise to keep basketball fans better connected to their heroes and the sport they love. To stay up-to-date on the finalists and learn who wins the ultimate prize, follow @MetroByTMobile on Instagram.
