Mobile World Congress in Barcelona offers one of the world’s largest gatherings in the mobile industry, and Sprint again will be among the companies sharing exciting news throughout the show.
Leading the Sprint delegation is CEO Marcelo Claure, who will appear on a keynote panel at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, titled The Future of the Industry: Transatlantic Digital Policy and Regulation. March 1, 2018 - AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon unveil next-generation mobile authentication platform details
Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon announced product details of the next-generation mobile authentication platform under development by the cross-carrier Mobile Authentication Taskforce (MAT). The group was formed last year to develop a mobile authentication solution to help protect enterprises and consumers from identity theft, bank fraud, fraudulent purchases and data theft. The taskforce also announced the launch of a website later this year enabling service providers to learn more about the solution and sign up to participate as an application developer. February 28, 2018 - Sprint Magic Box wins prestigious GLOMO Award at Mobile World Congress
Sprint Magic Box, the world’s first all-wireless small cell, which improves data coverage and increases download and upload speeds on average by 200 percent, on Tuesday won a Global Mobile (GLOMO) Award for Best Mobile Technology Breakthrough at the 2018 Mobile World Congress. The award is shared with Airspan Networks, which designed and manufactured the Magic Box in collaboration with Sprint. The GLOMO judges noted, “With this solution, the partnership has successfully addressed the small cell deployment issues around speed, ease and cost.”

February 27, 2018 - Sprint Unveils Six 5G-Ready Cities; Significant Milestone Toward Launching First 5G Mobile Network in the U.S.
Starting in April, Sprint (NYSE: S) customers in select U.S. markets will experience the future of wireless as the company prepares to deliver the nation’s first 5G mobile network in the first half of 2019. Customers in Chicago, Dallas and Los Angeles will begin experiencing 5G-like capabilities, including significant increases in data speed and capacity, as Sprint rolls out advanced network technology called Massive MIMO. Sprint will aggressively expand to additional markets including Atlanta, Houston and Washington, D.C. later this year. In 2018 and 2019 Sprint expects to deploy thousands of Massive MIMO radios, significantly increasing network capacity for millions of customers across the country.

February 26, 2018 - GSMA RCS Messaging Initiative Takes Off As Mobile Operators, Including Sprint, Interconnect Networks
The GSMA today announced that mobile operators América Móvil, Rogers and Sprint have interconnected their networks across the Americas enabling customers in these regions to access advanced Rich Communications Services (RCS) across 22 networks in 17 countries. The upgraded service allows users to enjoy enhanced messaging services such as chat, group chat and file share amongst many others. Sprint’s support of interconnectivity increases the number of contacts a customer can reach with RCS messaging on Android devices.

The GSMA today announced that multiple global brands have launched live trials of RCS Business Messaging based on the GSMA’s Universal Profile for Advanced Messaging. The service upgrades existing SMS business messaging to create a richer and more interactive experience for consumers, allowing them to engage directly with brands within the messaging platform via artificial intelligence and chatbots. In the U.S., Google is collaborating with Sprint to enable campaigns with 1-800-Contacts, 1-800-Flowers.com, Booking.com, Express, SnapTravel and Subway in collaboration with messaging partners 3C, CM.com, Mobivity, OpenMarket, Smooch and Twilio to launch through Google's Early Access program.

February 26, 2018 - Sprint Selects Synchronoss Technologies to Aid in its Digital Transformation
As part of its Sprint Now program, the company has selected the Synchronoss’ Digital platform to help simplify its online order management process, generate more revenue, and reduce its costs. Stage one of the new deployment will be focused on Sprint’s wireless business customers, but will extend to include wireline, IoT, and Sprint value added solution business operations in the future.

The Carrier Blockchain Study Group (CBSG) announced five new member companies are joining the consortium – South Korea’s LG Uplus and KT, Emirati Etisalat, Spain’s Telefónica and Philippine’s PLDT.
