OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Oct. 24, 2014 – Sprint (NYSE: S) customers can now upgrade their iPhone every year with the new 12-month lease option through the iPhone for Life program beginning Nov. 14. This beats Verizon Wireless’ upgrade policy, which was recently changed to make customers pay off 75 percent of the balance which is 18 months of device payments to get a new iPhone1.
With its exclusive iPhone for Life Plan, Sprint gives qualified customers what they want – the best value in wireless and the ability to get a new iPhone every year without making a lump sum payment. Sprint customers now have the choice of a 12-month or 24-month lease to acquire an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus through the iPhone for Life Plan.
Customers choosing the 12-month lease option will pay $30 per month for the iPhone 6 16GB or $35 per month for the iPhone 6 Plus 16GB.
The iPhone for Life Plan is the most economical way to get a new iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus. There are no out-of-pocket costs for qualified customers and the plan guarantees a new device every 12 months.
“Consumers have told us they want the best value and the ability to upgrade their devices every year,” said Marcelo Claure, Sprint CEO. “Sprint delivers with its new 12-month lease offer, allowing customers to upgrade to the latest iPhone every year. The iPhone for Life Plan gives customers the lowest monthly cost in the industry for acquiring an iPhone. We are making it easy and affordable for consumers to get what they want.”
At the end of the lease agreement, customers in good standing currently have the following options to continue service7:
- Turn in the current leased device and lease another phone with zero down at signing
- Purchase the leased iPhone
- Continue leasing on a month-to-month basis
- Or, when the lease ends the customer has the option to return the device in good working condition and terminate service
In addition, beginning Nov. 14, Sprint is making the iPhone 5S available to lease. Customers will be able to lease the iPhone 5S 16GB for only $18 per month for 24 months. The iPhone 5S 32GB will be available for $21 per month and the iPhone 5S 64GB for $24 per month (excluding taxes and fees).
Best Value in Wireless
