Re: Odd QOS Issue (Video better than Ping)

Did you use the placement app on the T-Mobile Internet app to ensure your gateway is pointed at your assigned cell tower? Also, because the antennas are located near the edges of the gateway housing (Arcadian and Sagemcom), rotating the gateway a few degrees and checking your metrics will provide a better chance for a solid signal. I am currently happy with my connectivity. Good luck! Don’t know how much that can help, my signal strength is showing as good and in the middle of the night when no one is using the network all my packets get delviered. In my experience that is not how bad wireless connections tend to work.40Views0likes0CommentsOdd QOS Issue (Video better than Ping)
I am currently test driving T-Moible Home Internet to see if it’s good enough to replace my current provider. I am located in Bellevue, WA (T-Mobiles global headquarters), so you would think the equipment around hear would be up to spec. There seem to be some issues with network overloading, because despite having constant “good” signal showing, and having the station next to a window, I am only getting about 20Mbps down on a speed test. That said, I think that known speed test servers are given very high QOS because I can barely watch 720p youtube videos at that supposed bandwidth. That in itself isn’t a deal breaker necessarily, but I work from home as a programmer and need to be able to use low level protocols in the internet sometimes (ssh, icmp, etc) The QOS on these low level protocols is astoundingly bad. I have 250-500 ping with 80-90% packet loss to T-Mobile own name servers. If I switch to another provider it is 0% loss 13ms latency. There does not seem to be any way to adjust this, and as far as i can tell it just throws away any packets it doesn’t “think” the average user will notice when the network is busy.223Views0likes3Comments
