Netflix downgrade
Hey Netflix,
“You currently have Netflix ON US included in your plan. Netflix recently updated their subscription tiers, you’ll now receive Netflix Standard with ads, providing more features and benefits to you. This benefit will continue to be ON US ($0). There is nothing you need to do. This change will take effect between January 25 and February 1.”
How is changing my subscription from “no ads” to “includes ads” “providing more features and benefits to you”?

As someone mentioned, the original bill credit was $15.49. The new bill credit is $6.99 for Netflix without ads. For $8.50 more ($15.49), we can opt for Netflix without ads. T-mobile is claiming that there is a “change to Netflix’s plans” that is out of their control. What they are doing in reality is reducing the amount they are crediting us for the Netflix benefit. When I signed up of my plan, I was promised that there would never be an increase to it. Also, when I signed up, I considered the Netflix benefit as a weight in favor of T-mobile. How is $8.50 more for the same benefits/service NOT an increase in the price of what I am getting?

Don’t forget it isn’t just ads that change, with the ad feature not all show and episodes are available to watch anymore.

T Mobile is only worried about their bottom line and doesn’t care about customer satisfaction. I’ll be canceling my Netflix account and shopping around for other phone carriers. I can’t even watch Netflix on my TV using my Chromecast anymore with the downgraded plan. The free Netflix without ads was the only perk keeping me with T Mobile.

I called in for the third time about this change and asked for a Supervisor to discuss it. I finally got through to a Supervisor, who looked up my account and she said that as I am on the Magenta Max 55+ with 3 lines, my Netflix service is grandfathered in and will not be changed to the one with ads. I asked her to confirm and she put me on hold, came back a couple minutes later and confirmed no change to my Netflix. As this is different from what I was told the last 2 times I called, I supposed I will see what happens over the next day or two when the change is taking place.
Okay I was lied to by the Supervisor last week. My Netflix was just changed to the ones with ads. I am on the phone with support again now to cancel Netflix. Next is to sign up with another carrier.

Looks to be so, I just got that email 5 min ago. Had Netflix free since they started it
This is were it gets confusing for all.
Netflix free started before Standard ad free plan was offered.
Originally , they gave free Basic - 420p to 720p , looks great on my 65" Sammy.
It was limited to 1 stream but like many on that plan, we could stream up to three devices @ once.
A couple weeks ago , that ended. Now we can only stream on one device @ a time. Basic plan should remain In tact so says upper tier CS my account has been noted.
Also , Those on Basic plan don't get free Hulu.
I'm ok with that.
ADDING: Just came across this - https://www.cnet.com/tech/services-and-software/netflix-subscription-update-what-the-phasing-out-basic-ad-free-plan-means/
By look of it, Basic ad free customers are safe in USA for now which would explain why TM isn't making change to that plan.

We wanted to let you know that the Netflix plan included with your T-Mobile package has been changed to the Standard with ads plan. Netflix is still included with your T-Mobile package and there are no changes to your T-Mobile bill. Your new Standard with ads plan includes: • Great video quality: Continue streaming in Full HD (1080p) • Multiple devices: Continue watching and downloading on 2 household devices at the same time • Just a few short ads So you went from Standard to Standard with ads?
If so , that was to be expected.
Did you get Hulu invite?
