sim card

I'm on my grandmas phone plan. My BFF is using my simcard in his phone. Can if i open my own tmobile account can I get a sim card and use it in my phone . Or is my phone it's self connected to the original simcard ?

    Your device is not connected to your SIM card in any way.  That is why you can take the SIM card out and put it in another device and it just works as long as that device is compatible with T-Mobile.  If you put another SIM card in your phone, it will work with whatever number and account information is tied to that SIM.  If your device is a T-Mobile device.  It will only accept SIM cards for T-Mobile unless the device has been SIM unlocked.
