can i use 5ghz instead of 2.4 through my extender

Extenders “extend” the same channel that is being used on the base router.   Most extenders only extend 2.4 GHz channels, but some can extend 5 Ghz channels as well.   If the base router is only broadcasting on a 2.4 Ghz channel, that is all the extender will do.
