Can i keep my number if i dont pay for several months

I’m from England and have a T-Mobile prepay e-sim ($50 PM) that I am using while I am here. I’m going home next month and wonder if I can keep my number while I’m at home in the Uk. I won’t need it there so don’t want to pay for it but I’d like to have the same number when I return to the US later in 2023.

    If there's no balance on the account it will get canceled after 60 days and the number will be put back in the number pool. 

    One option is to port the number to Google voice for a $20 fee.
