AUTO PAY

I SINCERELY HOPE THAT T-MOBILE RETHINKS NOT GIVING CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS THE AUTO PAY DISCOUNT.  THE FEE FOR THE CREDIT CARD IS SIGNIFICANTLY LESS THAN THE $25.  LET’S DO AWAY WITH SOME OF THE OTHER GIVE AWAYS INSTEAD OF THIS.  I HAVE HAD GREAT SERVICE AND CUSTOMER SERVICE SUPPORT AT T-MOBLE; BETTER THAN ANY OTHER SERVICE . . . BUT I WILL BE LOOKING FOR A NEW PROVIDER IF THEY DECIDE TO GO THROUGH WITH THIS.  BAD PR T-MOBILE.

I kept T-Mobile and my discount.  This is how I did it.  T-Mobile offers a T-Mobile Money App.  It is basically a bank account that pays 4% interest that has the T-Mobile brand but is with another bank.  You sign up for the bank account like you would any other online bank.  After a few days, you’ll receive a debit ATM card from T-Mobile along with some initial checks (3 of them).  At that point you log in to your new T-Mobile bank account and just do a remote deposit of $xxx.xx where you take a picture of the check you’re depositing.  (I did about a $1,000)  to cover a years worth of auto pay.  T-Mobile only has the bank numbers for your NEW T-Mobile account.  Nothing is connected to your regular banking.  You also have the option of going to one of T-Mobile local places and do a cash deposit into the new account.   Then you setup auto pay from that T-Mobile bank account and you get your discount back.  I just did it and it worked for me.  Nothing is tied to my other bank accounts.   PS:  There are other options to fund the new account, like linking your other bank accounts (DON’T DO IT).   Using the remote check deposit is the safest.    Happy Savings!

Same, I've been with T- Mobile since they started in the US I'm now looking at other carriers because of this issue. Actually had one customer service person on chat say they changed their policy because of all the fraud.... So if you can't keep my credit card number safe how the hell are you going to keep my banking information safe?

I canceled autopay, deleted my credit card info, and told T-Mobile to send me a paper summary statement as a reminder.  Seems to me that mailing the statement is going to cost more than the credit card charge.  If enough people do this, maybe T-Mobile will re-think the policy.

  • I think they should offer an option to pay 3% fee if you pay with a credit card and give the discount. This is what other companies do that can't absorb the credit charge fees.

With the data breaches they have there's no way I'm going to expose my bank account to hackers.

Poor decision but unfortunately $10 a month isn't going to bankrupt me and I'll have to pay more for service if I switched to another provider.
