Priority notification for texts

Hi. I had to get a new phone (still Galaxy S21) since other phone had water damage. On other phone when my boyfriend would text me, it would show his profile pic in the notification bar instead of just the blank conversation bubble. I can’t seem to make that happen again. Does anyone know how to do it? I have checked in Notifications under Apps etc. HELP!!!!!
