Accidental Message Deletion

I accidentally deleted messages sent to me by a friend.  I went in to the “Battery and Device Care” setting, chose “Storage”, then “Messages”, then “Edit”, then selected “All”, then “Restore”.

The deleted messages didn’t come back.

Please help!
