Net-zero by 2040.

All in for net-zero.

Taking a proactive approach to responsibly managing potential climate-related impacts and carbon emissions strengthens our business resilience and helps us better meet stakeholder expectations. To guide our sustainable business efforts, we’ve set a goal to reach net-zero emissions for our entire carbon footprint by 2040—a first in the U.S. wireless industry.

Key ways we reduce emissions is through energy efficiency measures, strategic renewable energy procurement to match 100% of our total purchased electricity, and deep collaboration with suppliers across our value chain to identify areas of opportunity.

Achieve net-zero Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions by 2040.

NEAR-TERM TARGET

Reduce absolute Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions 55% by 2030 from a 2020 base year.

LONG-TERM TARGET

Reach net-zero GHG emissions across Scope 1, 2, and 3 by 2040 from a 2020 base year. As part of this commitment, T-Mobile commits to reduce absolute emissions by 90% by 2040.

Renewable energy plays an important role in reducing our carbon footprint, particularly in minimizing Scope 2 emissions. That’s why we’re part of RE100, a global initiative that unites businesses committed to 100% renewable electricity. In 2018, we set an ambitious goal to source renewable energy equivalent to 100% of our total electricity usage by 2021—a goal we’re proud to have achieved and maintained each year since.

Our renewable energy projects in action.

Our Red Dirt wind farm power purchase agreement contributes to carbon emissions reductions of over 250,000 metric tons annually.
