Get to know your Samsung LTE Mobile Hotspot Pro

 

Features on the front of the Samsung LTE Mobile HotSpot Pro. The notification bar is at the top of the screen. Below that is the Display. The USB Connector is in the bottom-right corner

  1. Notification bar: Shows information about the connection status, signal strength, battery level, and time, and displays notifications about incoming messages, and other action.
  2. Display: Shows all the information needed to operate your device, such as the number of wireless connected devices, number of received messages (along with date, time and phone number), and data usage.
  3. USB Connector: Provides a direct connection for USB-capable devices using this connector type.

 

Features on the side of the Samsung LTE Mobile HotSpot Pro. The Power Key is on the top-right. The WPS key is on the top-left. The Charging Port and Mini USB Connector are on the left side. The microSD Card slot and USB Connector are on the bottom-right corner.

  1. Power key: Switches the phone off and on.
  2. WPS key: Allows you to pair with devices currently using a WPS connection. The WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) feature allows you to pair your Wi-Fi-capable device without the need for entering a passcode. This process is similar to Wi-Fi Direct pairing.
  3. Charging Port: Allows you to connect a compatible power cable.
  4. Mini USB Connector: Provides a mini USB for connection to devices using this type of connector.
  5. microSD Card Slot (internal): Allows you use a microSD card to expand the memory of your device.
  6. USB Connector: Provides a USB plug for connection to devices using this type of connector. This provides your target device with wired Internet access.

Admin page

 

Access web portal

 
  1. Connect to the Mobile HotSpot via Wi-Fi.
  2. Launch an available web browser on your connected device and go to http://mobile.hotspot/. If there are any issues accessing the web portal using the mobile.hotspot url, use 192.168.43.1 instead.
  3. Enter the web portal administrator password and select Apply (the default administrator password is admin).
  4. You will arrive at the web portal.
 

Basic wireless network settings

 
  1. Access the Web Portal and select Network.
  2. Review and adjust any of the following settings:
    • DHCP Server
    • DHCP Address Range
    • DHCP Lease Time
    • Data Limit
    • Network Name (SSID)
    • Security
    • Password
    • Broadcast Channel
    • Broadcast SSID
 

Change administrator password

 

Your administrator password is the password you use to access your T-Mobile Hotspot Admin page on your computer. Changing the administrator password does not change the password you use to connect other devices to your Mobile Hotspot. Check the steps to Change the Wi-Fi password to change your Wi-Fi password. If you lose or forget your password, you will need to complete a factory reset to regain access. For more information, check the Software Updates & Device Resets section on this page.

  1. Access the Web Portal and select Configuration.
  2. Select Tools.
  3. Enter new password in the New Password field.
  4. Re-enter new password in the Verify New Password field.
  5. Select Apply.
 

Change the SSID

 
  1. Access the Web Portal and select Network.
  2. In the Wi-Fi Configuration section, select the Network Name (SSID) field..
  3. Delete the current information and enter a new name.
  4. Select Apply then select OK.
  5. Any currently connected devices willneed to forget their previous connections and reconnect.
 

Change Wi-Fi password

 

The Wi-Fi password is the password used to connect other devices to your Mobile Hotspot. Changing the Wi-Fi password does not change the password you use to access your T-Mobile Hotspot Admin page from your computer. 

  1. Access the Web Portal and select Network.
  2. In the Wi-Fi Configuration section, select the Password field.
  3. Enter your new password
  4. Select Apply then select OK.
  5. Any currently connected devices will need to update their connection passwords.
 

Connection mode (Automatic or Manual)

 

To switch 3G/4G/LTE, check the Connections & network section.

 

 

Local area network (LAN) status

 
  1. Access the Web Portal
  2. From the Home screen, scroll to review any of the following information:
    • System Information
    • T-Mobile Network (IP Address, DNS)
    • My HotSpot Connection
    • Connected Devices
 

Enable or disable MAC Filtering

 
  1. Access the Web Portal and select Security.
  2. Select MAC Filtering.
  3. Select the box to check or un-check Enable MAC Filtering.
 

Delete a Trusted Client MAC Address

 
  1. Access the Web Portal and select Security.
  2. Select MAC Filtering.
  3. Select to highlight the MAC address you want to remove.
  4. Select Delete Client.
 

Add a Trusted Client MAC Address

 
  1. Access the Web Portal and select Security.
  2. Select MAC Filtering.
  3. Select the Add Trusted Client MAC Address field.
  4. Enter the MAC address.
  5. Select Add Client.
 

Enable or disable Port Filtering

 
  1. Access the Web Portal and select Security.
  2. Select Port Filtering.
  3. Select the box to check or un-check Enable Port Filtering.
 

Delete a rule

 
  1. Access the Web Portal and select Security.
  2. Select Port Filtering.
  3. Perform one of the following:
    • Under Allowed Applications, select the box to un-check any of the following:
      • Select All Applications
      • DNS (Domain Name Server)
      • HTTP
      • HTTPS
      • FTP
      • E-mail(POP3)
      • E-mail(IMAP)
      • VPN
      • Telnet
      • RTP
    • Under Custom Applications, select Revert next to the entry you want to remove.
 

Add a new rule

 
  1. Access the Web Portal and select Security.
  2. Select Port Filtering.
  3. Perform one of the following:
    • Under Allowed Applications, choose the box to check any of the following:
      • Select All Applications
      • DNS (Domain Name Server)
      • HTTP
      • HTTPS
      • FTP
      • E-mail(POP3)
      • E-mail(IMAP)
      • VPN
      • Telnet
      • RTP
    • Under Custom Applications, enter the following information then select Apply:
      • Application Name
      • Port Range
      • Port Type

 

Battery, Memory, & Storage

 

Insert battery

 
  1. Power the device off.
  2. Use the groove on the side of the device to lift and remove the cover from the device.
    Back cover lifts up when you insert something small and flat like a fingernail in the groove on the side of the device and lift it up.
  3. Insert the battery:
    1. Align the gold contacts.
    2. Press down gently and secure the battery.
    3. First slide the battery into the device with gold contacts facing down, then push the bottom of the battery into the device.
  4. Replace the back cover by pressing it onto the phone.

Remove battery

 
  1. Power the phone off.
  2. Use the groove on the side of the device to lift and remove the cover from the device.
  3. Back cover lifts up when you insert something small and flat like a fingernail in the groove on the side of the device and lift it up.
  4. Grip the battery at the top end.
  5. Lift the battery up and out of its compartment.
  6. Remove the battery on the Samsung LTE Mobile HotSpot Pro.
  7. Replace the back cover by pressing it onto the phone.

Battery life

 
  1. Access the Web Portal and select Configuration.
  2. Select Tools.
  3. In the Power Management section, check or un-check Hibernate.
  4. Select Apply.
 

Format SD card

 

Formatting the SD card deletes all data on it. You may wish to format the SD card if you want to delete the files, if files or apps on the SD card are not working, or if the SD card is not working.

  1. Access the Web Portal and select Configuration.
  2. Select Tools.
  3. In the Format SD card section, select Format.
 

Insert / remove SD card

 
  1. Remove the mini USB connector from the side of the device.
    Open the USB port cover by lifting the mini USB Cable away from the port
  2. Pull the cable all the way around the device and remove the other USB connector from its slot.
    Pull the cable all the way around the device and remove the other USB connector from the slot
  3. Slide the microSD card into the the card slot until it locks into place.
    Insert the microSD card into the microSD card slot, next to the USB slot
 

Open or delete files using the computer

 

You must use the USB cable that comes with your phone.

  1. Connect the USB cord to the phone, then to a computer.
  2. On your computer, select Open folder to view filesOK.
  3. Another Removable Disk window will appear (one folder contains files saved in your phone memory and one folder contains files saved on your SD card). Select Open folder to view filesOK.
  4. Locate the folder that contains files you want to delete.
  5. Once you have located the files, right-select and select Delete.
  6. When done, disconnect the USB cable.
 

Transfer files between computer & SD card

 

You must use the USB cable that comes with your phone to transfer files.

  1. Connect the USB cord to the phone, then to a computer.
  2. On your computer, select Open folder to view filesOK.
  3. Another Removable Disk window will appear (one folder contains files saved in your phone memory and one folder contains files saved on your SD card). Select Open folder to view filesOK.. 
  4. Locate the folder that contains files saved on your SD card.
  5. Locate the file(s) you want to move on your computer.
  6. Cut or copy and paste the desired file(s) from your computer to your SD card.
  7. When done, disconnect the USB cable.
 

SIM card

 
  1. Use the groove on the side of the device to lift and remove the cover from the device.

Back cover lifts up when you insert something small and flat like a fingernail in the groove on the side of the device and lift it up.

  1. With the label side facing upwards, carefully slide the SIM card into the SIM card slot until it locks into place.

  1. Insert the battery, making sure to align the gold contacts.
  2. Press down gently to secure the battery.
  3. Position the battery cover over the battery compartment and press down firmly along the edges to snap it back into place.

Connections & Network

 

APN / data settings

 
  1. Access the Web Portal and select Configuration in the top toolbar.
  2. In the APN section, enter the Profile Name and APN information for a new connection.
  3. Select Save.
 

Network connection mode

 
  1. Access the Web Portal and select Configuration.
  2. Select the drop-down menu next to Mobile data.
  3. Select one of the following:
    • LTE/GSM/WCDMA
    • GSM/WCDMA
    • LTE only
    • GWM only
 

Roaming

 
  1. Access the Web Portal and select Configuration.
  2. Check or un-check the box next to Data roaming.

 

Email & Messaging

 

Send messages

 
  1. Access the Web Portal and select the Messaging icon.
  2. Select Create Messages.
  3. Choose the To field and enter the recipients' phone numbers separated by colons (:).
  4. Select the Type message here field and enter your message.
  5. Select Send.
 

Get & delete messages

 
  1. Access the Web Portal and select Messaging.
  2. Highlight a message thread from inbox list.
  3. Select Delete.
  4. Place a checkmark beside the message you wish to delete, then select Delete.

 

Security

 

Change SIM PIN

 
  1. Access the Web Portal and select Security on the top toolbar.
  2. Select Change.
  3. Enter the old SIM PIN code and select OK.
  4. Enter the new SIM PIN code and select OK.
  5. Re-enter the new SIM PIN code and select OK.
 

Turn on / off SIM PIN

 

The SIM PIN code can protect your SIM from being used in other devices. When you turn on the SIM PIN lock, the device prompts you to enter the code after turning it on. To lock / unlock the SIM card....

  1. Access the Web Portal and select Security.
  2. Check or un-check Lock SIM Card.
  3. Enter the SIM PIN and select OK.
 

Mobile Device Unlock

 
  1. Check if your phone is eligible to unlock: Mobile Wireless Device Unlocking.
  2. Contact us to request the Mobile Device Unlock code for your phone.
  3. Insert the non-T-Mobile SIM and turn on the device.
  4. Access the Web Portal
  5. On the Home page, select Unlock Device.
  6. Enter the unlock code and select OK.

 

Software Updates & Device Resets

 

Master reset from settings menu

 

A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloaded content, ringtones, images, apps, and contacts. It does not delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card. 

  1. Access the Web Portal and select Configuration.
  2. Select Tools.
  3. In the Device Factory Reset section, select Factory Reset.
  4. The device will reboot automatically.
 

Master reset with hardware keys

 

A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloaded content, ringtones, images, apps, and contacts. It does not delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card. If the device menus are frozen or unresponsive, you can master reset using hardware keys. 

  1. Turn on the device.
  2. Press and hold the Power and WPS keys for 5 seconds to display an on-screen Factory Reset message.
  3. Press the Power key to reset the device. Otherwise, press the WPS key to cancel the reset operation.
  4. Once completed, the device should reboot and the main screen will re-appear.
 

Software updates

 

Your device automatically updates to the latest software version. No additional action is required.
