Change your phone number

There are a few reasons why you might want to change your wireless number, such as if you're receiving calls for someone else or if you recently moved. 

Things to keep in mind

  • Changing your number deletes all voicemail messages. For detailed steps to set up a new voicemail box visit our Voicemail page.
  • Phone number changes can take up to four hours to complete. Once complete, you'll receive a free text message with the new mobile number.
  • iMessage can take up to 24hrs to reflect mobile number changes.
  • Caller ID systems for landline carriers can take up to three days to show the correct calling information.
  • Update your contact number on any accounts that may have your number saved, such as notifications for bank accounts, social media, etc.
  • It may take up to three days to have access to sign into your account on T-Mobile.com using your new number.
  • Call records for the old phone number will no longer be available on T-Mobile.com.
  • T-Mobile holds all numbers for a minimum of 45 days and up to 90 days, at which time the number will be available for reuse.
  • For apps that verify using mobile number, remove two-factor authentication before changing the mobile number. After number change a third-party company may lose ability to send an OTP.

Change your phone number

  • Lines designated as the Primary Account Holder or Authorized User can change the number when logged into T-Life or My.T-Mobile.com with a T-Mobile ID. 
  • Change your number at no cost 2 times per year. Limit of one change per month. 
  • You will be provided with up to 5 randomly generated numbers based on the entered City and State or ZIP. We are unable to provide vanity or sequential numbers. 
  • The line must be active. 

Change your phone number T-Life

  1. Log in to the T-Life app.  
  2. Select the Manage tab
  3. Select the desired line.  
  4. Select Change phone number
  5. Review important information to know prior to changing your number and select Acknowledge & continue
  6. Enter the city and state or ZIP code for the desired location and select Search.  
  7. Select one of the available numbers and select Continue.  
  8. Review details of the number change and select Submit

Change your phone number T-Mobile.com

  1. Log into T-Mobile.com.
  2. Select the desired line. 
  3. Select Change phone number .
  4. Review important information to know prior to changing your number and select Acknowledge & continue.
  5. Confirm the number and select Continue
  6. Enter the city and state or ZIP code for the desired location and select Search
  7. Select one of the available numbers and select Continue
  8. Review details of the number change and select Submit.
