How to get MAXUp

To get MAXUp, you need to be on a Magenta® MAX, Magenta®, Magenta® Military, or Magenta® 55+ plan and then you can Add or remove services.


How to activate up to 4K UHD video streaming

If you have a MAXUp add-on on your account, you can turn on Up to 4K UHD video by following these steps. If there are multiple lines on an account that you want to add it to, you'll need to do this for each line.

To activate from the T-Mobile app

There are multiple options/methods to enable:

Enable via MORE menu

  1. Open the T-Mobile app.
  2. Select MORE.
  3. Select Profile Settings >Media Settings.
  4. To the right of HD /4K UHD Video, toggle to ON.

Enable via ACCOUNT menu

  1. Log in to the T-Mobile app.
  2. Select Account on the bottom menu.
  3. Select the desired line, then select Plan Details tab.
  4. At the bottom of the page and select Manage Data & Add-ons link.
  5. Under One-time Data Pass, select the Manage HD link next to the HD/4K UHD Video pass.
  6. Toggle the setting on to turn on your HD/Up to 4K UHD Video.

To activate from

There are multiple options/methods to add a pass via

Add via My account menu

  1. Log in to
  2. Open the My account drop-down menu. 
  3. Select the Profile link.
  4. On the Profile page, select the line for which you want to enable the HD/Up to 4K UHD Video feature.
  5. Select Media Settings.
  6. To the right of HD / 4K UHD Video, toggle the setting to turn it ON.

Add via Manage Add-ons menu

  1. Log in to
  2. Under I want to, select Manage Add-Ons.
  3. Under One-time Data Pass, select the HD 24 Hour Pass radio button then select Continue.
  4. Review order and select Agree & Submit.

Things to know about Up to 4k UHD video

  • Activating Up to 4K UHD video resolution only provides the ability to view higher resolution video streams by turning off video optimization. It doesn't change the actual, available resolution of streaming video. The video resolution isn't determined by T-Mobile, but rather it's determined by the video content provider (like YouTube or Netflix).
  • Once you turn it on, Up to 4K UHD video streaming availability should take effect immediately, but it may require closing and re-opening the app or browser window, or restarting your device.
