Battery
 

Soft reset

This is a uni-body device with an internal battery that cannot be removed. If you need to soft reset the device, follow these steps:

  1. Select the Time Settings in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen.
  2. Click the Shut down icon.
  3. Wait 3 -5 seconds, next press the Power button on the device keyboard to turn your device back on.
 
SD Card
 

Insert SD card

  1. Insert a memory card into the memory card slot in the indicated direction until it clicks.
  2. A new tab opens and the list of files on the card appears.
  3. Select a file to read the data for the file.

Remove SD card

  1. Push the memory card, it clicks and disengages from the memory card slot.
  2. Grasp the end of the card and pull it out of the slot.
 
SIM Card
 

This device supports a Nano size SIM card.

  1. Insert the ejection pin into the hole on the tray to loosen the tray.
  2. Ensure the ejection pin is perpendicular to the hole. Otherwise, the device may be damaged.
  3. Pull out the tray gently from the tray slot.
  4. Place the SIM card on the tray with the gold-colored contacts facing downwards.
  5. Gently press the SIM card into the tray to secure it and insert the tray back into the tray slot.

Clear cache / cookies / history

  1. Select the Chrome browser icon.
  2. Select the Menu icon > Settings > Privacy and security.
  3. Select Clear browsing data. Make sure the following are checked.
    • Browsing history
    • Cookies and other site data
    • Cached images and files
  4. Select Clear data.

Open / close tabs / windows

  1. From any web page, select the Menu icon.
  2. Select New tab.

Turn on / off JavaScript

  1. Select the Chrome browser icon.
  2. Select the Menu icon > Settings > Site settings.
  3. Select JavaScript and select one of the following.
    • Sites can use Javascript
    • Don't allow sites to use Javascript

  1. Select the Time Settings in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen.
  2. In the Network section, select Mobile Data. This option is only available if a SIM card is inserted.
  3. Select the T-Mobile APN if one is available. If not, select a new APN.
  4. Verify and update the following settings for the Data APN if needed.
    • Name: T-Mobile
    • APN: Fast.t-mobile.com
    • Proxy: <Not set>
    • Port: <Not set>
    • Username: <Not set>

Manual network selection

The device detects and registers on wireless networks inside T-Mobile’s calling area, but roaming networks are usually restricted to T-Mobile SIM cards. You can manually select a network only in areas where T-Mobile does not own GSM spectrum.

  1. Select the Time Settings in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen.
  2. In the Network section, select Mobile Data. This option is only available if a SIM card is inserted.
  3. Turn on Allow mobile data roaming.
  4. Select a Network.

Switch 2G / 3G / 4G LTE

This option is not available on your device.

Turn on / off airplane mode

Turn on / off data roaming

  1. Select the Time Settings in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen.
  2. Under Network, confirm Mobile data is turned on. This option is only available if a SIM card is inserted.
  3. Select Mobile data.
  4. Turn on/off Allow mobile data roaming.

Turn on / off mobile data

  1. Select the Time in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen.
  2. Select your Network.
  3. Turn on/off Mobile data. This option is only available if a SIM card is inserted.
 
Wi-Fi Settings
 

Delete / forget network

  1. Select the Time Settings in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen.
  2. In the Network section, select Wi-Fi.
  3. Select the Wi-Fi switch to turn it on.
  4. Select the desired network, then select Disconnect.

Scan & connect

  1. Select the Time Settings in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen.
  2. In the Network section, select Wi-Fi.
  3. Select the Wi-Fi switch on, if necessary.
  4. Select desired Wi-Fi network, enter the password if prompted, then Connect.

Turn on / off

  1. Select the Time Settings in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen.
  2. In the Network section, select Wi-Fi.
  3. Select the Wi-Fi switch to turn it on or off.

Getting started
 

First time use

When you first turn on your new device, you may see a setup wizard to help you get started. Take a look at the steps below to walk through the setup process if needed.

  1. Insert your active T-Mobile SIM card and fully charge the device.
  2. Press the power button to turn on the device.
  3. Click Yes, activate ChromeVox, or No, continue without ChromeVox.
  4. A 'Welcome' screen will appear, select your language, select Get Started.
  5. Select your Wi-Fi network, enter your network password if needed, click Connect.
  6. Review Google terms of service, tap Accept and continue.
  7. Select Who's using this Chromebook? You, A child, Browse as Guest or Enterprise enrollment, click Next >.
  8. Sign in to your Chromebook with your Google Account, or tap More options to create a new Google Account if you do not already have one, or sign in with Enterprise enrollment click Next
    • Important: Sign in with your primary Google Account. This account will be set as the owner and is the only account that will be able to change certain Chrome settings.
  9. Review your Chrome and Google services, click Accept and continue.
  10. Review Google Play Terms of Service, click More, click Accept.
  11. Set up Google Assistant by clicking I agree > or click No thanks to skip set up.
  12. Set up for Assistant with "Hey Google" by clicking I agree > or click No thanks to skip set up.
  13. Install apps from your other devices by selecting the apps, tap Install & continue > or Skip to install at a later date, tap Continue >.
  14. Access your Assistant with "Hey Google" tap Next >, or Skip to set up at a later date, tap Done >.
  15. Connect your phone to text from your computer, share your internet connection, reply to conversation notifications, and unlock your Chromebook with your phone, tap Accept & continue > or No thanks to skip set up.
  16. Tap Get started to start using your new device.
  17. Select the Time in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen.
  18. Select your Network. Turn off Wi-Fi.
  19. From the list of available networks, select T-Mobile.
  20. Open a new tab in Chrome.
  21. Attempt to go to any website. You will be redirected to the T-Mobile activation page.
  22. Complete the online registration form.
  23. When T-Mobile service is activated you will see a confirmation page.

Device resets
 

Master reset from settings menu

A master reset removes all user accounts and resets your Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Go to factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloads, images, and apps. It doesn't delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card.

  1. Back up data on the internal memory.
  2. Select the Time Settings in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen.
  3. Select Advanced > Reset settings.
  4. In the Powerwash section, select Reset.
  5. Read and check the Powerwash disclaimer, select Continue > Restart.
  6. Wait for the device to reset.

Soft reset with hardware keys

A soft reset is a simulated battery removal. Use a soft reset to power a device off when the screen is frozen or unresponsive and the device has an internal battery that can't be removed. It doesn't cause loss of personal data on the device.

  1. Press and hold the Power button for at least 8 seconds.
  2. Wait 3 -5 seconds, next press the Power button on the device keyboard to turn your device back on.
 
Software updates
 
  1. Select the Time Settings in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen.
  2. Select About Chrome OS
  3. Select Check for updates.
  4. Wait for the device to check for updates, and download if a new software version is available.
