Learn how to change advanced settings on the Inseego 5G MiFi M2000. 

 

Advanced settings

Changing advanced settings may be harmful to the stability, performance, and security of the Inseego 5G MiFi M2000. Contact your local IT admin prior to altering any of these settings.

  1. Access the Admin website.
    1. On a computer or device connected to your mobile hotspot, open any web browser and go to http:/my.MIFI/ or http://192.168.1.1.
    2. Click Sign In.
    3. Enter the Admin password then click Sign In.
  2. From the Settings section, click the Navigation arrow to open the Settings page.
  3. Click the Advanced tab, review the warning then click Continue

 

Firewall

Follow these steps to adjust the general security level of the firewall, designate a specific device to receive all traffic, and set up specific firewall rules. The firewall cannot be turned off.

  1. Click the slider for any of the following to turn ON or OFF.
    • VPN Passthrough
    • IPv6 Transparent Model
  2. From the DMZ section, select Allow DMZ to check ON or OFF. 
  3. Enter the IP address into the Destination IP address field.
  4. Click Save Changes.

 

Inseego Connect

Inseego Connect enables you to easily view and monitor your devices from a Web Dashboard. Follow these steps to enable and configure settings for connection with Inseego Connect. 

  1. Click Inseego Connect.
  2. Click the Inseego connect report to server slider to turn ON or OFF.
    • Connection state:
      • UP: Mobile hotspot is communicating with Inseego Connect servers.
      • DOWN:  Mobile hotspot is not communicating with Inseego Connect servers.
    • Last reported: The time when your mobile hotspot last sent a packet to Inseego Connect servers.
    • Reporting interval: This is the interval at which your mobile hotspot will send packets into the Inseego Connect server. A shorter interval means more data usage.

 

LAN

Follow these steps to enable and configure settings for your mobile hotspot local area network (LAN).

  1. In the IPv4 section enter information into the following fields:
    • IP Address
    • Subnet Mask
    • MAC Address
    • DHCP server
    • DHCP lease time
    • Start DHCP address range at
  2. Click Turn on IPv6 to turn ON or OFF.
  3. Click Save Changes.

 

MAC Filter

Follow these steps to enable and configure settings to allow only selected devices to access your mobile hotspot primary Wi-Fi network.

  1. Click MAC Filter.
  2. Add a device to the list.
    1. Click Add new device.
    2. Enter Name and MAC Address.
    3. Click Save Changes.
  3. Turn on MAC filtering.
    1. Select the MAC Address Filter option located to the right of the corresponding device(s).
    2. Click Save Changes.
    3. Click the MAC Filter slider to turn ON or OFF
    4. Click Save Changes.

 

Manual DNS

Follow these steps to manually assign up to two Domain Name Server (DNS) IP addresses. DNS settings are automatically assigned by the device.

  1. Click Turn on manual DNS to turn ON or OFF.
  2. Enter the IP address for the primary DNS into the DNS 1 IP address field.
  3. Enter the IP address for the secondary (backup) DNS into the DNS 2 IP address field.
  4. Click Save Changes.

 

Networks

Follow these steps to set the APN to communicate with your mobile hotspot if you are on a private network.

  1. Click Allow device to connect to the mobile network slider to turn ON or OFF.
  2. Click Enable automatic network selection slider to turn ON or OFF
  3. Click Select network manually to search for other available networks.
  4. Click Scan for networks.
  5. Click Continue.
  6. Click Save Changes.

 

Port Filtering

Follow these steps to block outgoing Internet connections and permit only selected applications to access the Internet.

  1. Click Port Filtering.
  2. Click Port Filtering slider to turn ON or OFF.
  3. On the Applications section click the desired application(s).
  4. Click Add Custom Application if the application is not listed and enter the information.
  5. Click Save Changes.

 

Port Forwarding

Follow these steps to allow incoming traffic from the Internet to be forwarded to a particular device connected to your Wi-Fi network.

  1. Click Port Forwarding.
  2. Click Port Forwarding slider to turn ON or OFF.
  3. On the Applications section click the desired application(s).
  4. Click Add Custom Application if the application is not listed and enter the information.
  5. Click Save Changes.

 

VPN

Follow these steps to establish a tunnel connection to an Open VPN server and route all traffic on connected devices through the tunnel.

  1. Click Configure Open VPN settings.
  2. If needed, drag and drop files from your VPN provider into the Setup files box.
  3. Enter the username and password into the fields.
  4. Click Auto-connect VPN slider to turn ON or OFF.
  5. If VPN is configured, view the Connection status and Connection time from the VPN Connection section.
  6. Click Clear all VPN settings to delete saved VPN information.
  7. Click Save Changes.
