Buttons and icons

There's a lot you can do with your new device, so here's a quick glance of some basic items:



Network: The number of bars indicates the signal strength of your cellular service. If there's no signal, "No Service" appears

4G LTE: Connected to T-Mobile's 4G LTE network

Wi-Fi: Active and connected to a network

Bluetooth: On

Battery: Full / Charging

Call: Missed

Voicemail: New message

Text/SMS: New message

Airplane mode: All wireless connections, including Network, are disabled

Alarm: Set

Vibrate: Device will not ring

No matter what you want to do with your new device, we have plenty of resources available to help you get on your way.


First time use

When you first turn on your new device, you may see a setup wizard to help get started. Take a look at the steps below to walk through the setup process if needed.

  1. Insert the SIM card and the battery.
  2. Press and hold the red Power/Hang Up key to turn on the device.
  3. Choose your language, then select Next.
  4. Choose if you want to enable Anti-Theft.
    • If you enable Anti-Theft, follow the on-screen steps to create your device PIN, password, email address, and name.
      • The PIN must be at least 4 digits long
      • Press the key once for the first letter, twice for the second letter, thrice for the third letter, and four times for the fourth letter
      • Press and hold a number to insert that number
      • Press the * key to view and select symbols
    • If you don't enable Anti-Theft, you'll be taken to your main home screen.

Transferring data

  1. Sign into you Google account on the old phone select the options to back up.
  2. You can install Google Photos on both devices for easy photo transfer.
  3. Move the SIM card from your old phone to the new one if they are the same size. If they are not the same size, use the SIM card that came with the new phone. 
  4. Follow the setup wizard and sign into the same Google account you used for previous phone when prompted
