App and camera setup

Set up your camera

  1. Press the release button on the bottom of the camera and separate the camera from the camera housing.
  2. Insert the battery, SIM card and optional microSD card.
  3. For LTE access, verify that the SIM card is installed and activated.
  4. Insert the camera back into the housing.
  5. Download the Arlo app and follow the setup instructions. Do not begin mounting your camera before the Arlo app instructs you to during the installation process.
  6. Mount your camera.
    • Charge the battery indoors before mounting your camera.
    • Before mounting, make sure you've found a good location for LTE signal strength and motion detection.
    • Mount your camera onto a flat, supportive surface.

Create an Arlo account

  1. Open the Arlo app and select Create Account.
  2. Enter your information, agree to the Terms of Service, and select Continue.
  3. Go to the email account you entered to find a verification email from Arlo.
  4. In the verification email, select Verify Email.
  5. Go back to the Arlo app.
  6. Select the desired checkboxes to secure your account via Push Notifications or SMS text messages.
  7. Select Secure My Account.
  8. Enter your phone number and select Continue.
  9. Arlo will send you a code based on how you secured your account (SMS/Push Notifications). Enter that code to verify your phone number and select Continue
  10. Select Trust to add a trusted device and enter a name for the device.
  11. Select Continue.

Set up your Arlo Go camera in the app

  1. Open the Arlo app. 
  2. Select Add Device
  3. Follow the Arlo app instructions to add your Arlo Go camera. During the setup process, the Arlo app:
    • Detects the activated SIM card in your camera and attempts to access the T-Mobile network.
    • Prompts you to scan one or more QR codes displayed in the app with your camera.
    • Discovers your camera and offers you the option to connect to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Use this option when the camera is in range of a Wi-Fi network.
    • Guides you through camera positioning.
  4. Place your camera in a location with good mobile network coverage. If you want your camera to use only LTE after initial setup, you can change the settings so that it doesn't connect to Wi-Fi networks.

 

LED indicators

The LED changes color and blinks depending on the camera's charge level and the camera's status.

LED Behavior Description
Slow blinking blue The camera is attempting to connect to a Wi-Fi network or is in QR scanning mode.
Fast blinking blue The camera is establishing a Wi-Fi or LTE network connection.
Fast blinking amber The camera did not connect to the Wi-Fi network or it did not connect to the LTE network.
Solid amber The camera does not detect an activated SIM card in its SIM card slot.

LED behavior after setup

LED Behavior Description
Solid blue The LED lights are solid blue when the camera is powered on and then turns off to conserve battery power.
Fast blinking blue The camera's charging cable is plugged into a power adapter or the camera is connected to the optional Arlo Solar Panel VMA5600 (sold separately).
Single blink or double-blink amber every 60 seconds The battery charge is low. A single blink every 60 seconds indicates low battery charge. A double-blink indicates a critical battery charge level.
Alternating blue and amber A firmware update is in progress.
Single blink amber followed by a restart The camera has been factory reset.

View your camera feeds

 
  1. Select Play on the camera feed. 
  2. To stop viewing and listening to the live feed, select Stop
 

Record clips from live video

 
  1. Open the Arlo app.
  2. Select the camera feed image
  3. Select Record to begin recording. This icon turns red to indicate that you are recording the live feed. 
  4. To stop recording, select Record again.
 

Take a snapshot from a live video

 
  1. Open the Arlo app.
  2. Select the camera feed image
  3. Select Snapshot. The snapshot is saved in your library. 
 

Turn the camera spotlight on and off manually

 
  1. Open the Arlo app.
  2. Select the camera feed.
  3. Select Spotlight.
  4. To adjust the brightness, select and hold the icon and adjust the slider.
  5. To turn off the spotlight, select Spotlight.
 

Motion detection activity zones

 
  1. Select Settings > My Devices.
  2. Select the camera.
  3. Under VIDEO, select Activity Zones.
  4. Select the +
  5. Move the zone to the desired position in the camera feed image.
  6. Continue to reposition and resize the zone.
  7. Select Save.
 

2-Way Audio

 
  1. Open the Arlo app.
  2. Select the camera feed image.
  3. Select the microphone icon.
  4. The first time you use 2-Way Audio, allow Arlo to use your phone's microphone.
  5. Select the microphone button. 2-Way Audio is activated.
  6. To turn off 2-Way Audio, select the x.
 

Turn the camera's siren on and off manually

 
  1. Open the Arlo app.
  2. Select Siren.
  3. Select Activate Siren. If you have multiple cameras, you are prompted to select one.
  4. Swipe the siren icon to the right. The camera siren turns on.
  5. To turn off the siren, select the slider at the top of the Devices page.
 

Check your Arlo's mobile signal strength

 
  1. Open the Arlo app. 
  2. Select Settings > My Devices
  3. Select your camera.
  4. Select Connected To > Cellular Settings > Signal Strength. If the signal strength is consistently less than three bars, consider moving your camera to a location with better signal strength.
 

Use camera positioning to aim your camera

 

Camera positioning is available only when the camera is not streaming, recording motion, or using the Motion Detection test.

  1. Open the Arlo app. 
  2. Select Settings > My Devices
  3. Select your camera.
  4. Select Device Utilities > Camera Positioning. The camera starts streaming video. The signal strength bar indicates the Wi-Fi signal that your camera is receiving at its current location.

 

Grant access to friends

You can add friends to your Arlo account. Friends can view live streams from your cameras; record video clips; view, share, mark as favorite, and delete clips from your library; and take snapshots. Access/rights for your friends can be set up through your Arlo account.

 

Add a friend

 
  1. Open the Arlo app. 
  2. Select Settings
  3. Under ACCOUNT, select Grant Access.
  4. Select Add or +
  5. Enter your friend's first name and email address.
  6. Select the Arlo devices that you want your friend to access.
  7. To grant access rights to your friend, select Allow Access Rights. Selecting Allow Access Rights allows this friend to change your account and camera settings.
  8. Select Send Invite. An email message is sent inviting your friend to create an Arlo account.
 

Edit a friend's access privileges

 
  1. Open the Arlo app.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Under ACCOUNT, select Grant Access. A list of your friends displays with the status of their accounts.
  4. Select the friend and select Edit.
  5. Select cameras to select or deselect them.
  6. Select Allow Access Rights. Selecting Allow Access Rights allows this friend to change your account and camera settings.
  7. Select Done.
 

Delete a friend

 
  1. Open the Arlo app.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Under ACCOUNT, select Grant Access.
  4. Select the friend and select Edit.
  5. Select Delete Friend.
  6. Select Yes.

Change / Reset password

 

To change your password...

  1. Open the Arlo app. 
  2. Select Settings.
  3. In the Account section, select Profile > Login Settings
  4. Enter your old password.
  5. Enter a new password and then confirm it.
  6. Select Change Password.

To reset your password...

  1. Open the Arlo app.
  2. Select Forgot Password?
  3. Enter your email address.
  4. Select Send Email.
  5. Select the link provided in that email.
  6. Enter a new password.
  7. Select Submit.
 

Modes

 

You can arm or disarm your Arlo cameras and devices and you can set up a schedule to automatically arm each device. 

  1. Open the Arlo app. 
  2. Select Mode.
  3. From here you can set a number of rules for modes.
 

Camera settings

 

You can view or change the settings for each camera using either of these methods:

  1. Select Settings > My Devices and select the camera.
  2. Select the Menu icon or the Device Settings icon by the camera feed.
