Learn how to back up and restore apps, contacts, photos, and data on an iPhone running Apple iOS 15. 

 

Back up apps

Needs a Wi-Fi connection and additional requirements.

  1. On the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap your Apple ID at the top of the list.
  3. If prompted, sign in with your Apple ID.
  4. Tap iCloud.
  5. Tap the slider next to the desired apps.
  6. Tap the iCloud Backup app.
  7. Turn iCloud Backup on if disabled.
  8. Tap Back Up Now and wait for the backup to complete.

 

Back up contacts

Needs a Wi-Fi connection and additional requirements.

  1. On the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap your Apple ID at the top of the list.
  3. If prompted, sign in with your Apple ID.
  4. Tap iCloud.
  5. Tap Contacts to switch the slider ON.
  6. If prompted, select to Merge contacts with iCloud.
  7. Tap the iCloud Backup app.
  8. Turn iCloud Backup on if disabled.
  9. Tap Back Up Now and wait for the backup to complete.

 

Back up media & pictures

From phone

Needs a Wi-Fi connection and additional requirements.

  1. On the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap your Apple ID at the top of the list.
  3. If prompted, sign in with your Apple ID.
  4. Tap iCloud.
  5. Tap Photos.
  6. Tap iCloud Photos to turn the slider ON.
  7. Tap iCloud to return to the previous screen.
  8. Tap the iCloud Backup app.
  9. Turn iCloud Backup on if disabled.
  10. Tap Back Up Now and wait for the backup to complete.

From computer - PC or Mac

Use iTunes to backup your information.

 

Restore apps

To restore backed-up apps, you must restore the software and complete the initial setup process.

 

Restore contacts

To restore backed-up contacts, you must restore the software and complete the initial setup process.

 

Restore media & pictures

From phone

To restore backed-up media and pictures, you must reload the software and complete the initial setup process.

Use iTunes to restore your information.
