Use these steps to support network settings on an iPhone running Apple iOS 13. Check the software version in Software versions & updates.

 

 

 

APN & data settings

These settings are automatically set to the correct values with the Carrier Update when a T-Mobile SIM is inserted and cannot be changed. To ensure you have the correct settings, reset your network settings.

 

Manual network selection

The device detects and registers on wireless networks inside T-Mobile’s calling area, but roaming networks are usually restricted to T-Mobile SIM cards. You can manually select a network only in areas where T-Mobile does not own GSM spectrum.

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings > Cellular (iPhone) or Cellular Data (iPad).
  2. If you have an iPhone with an eSIM, tap the line you're making changes to.
  3. Tap Network Selection.
  4. Slide the Automatic slider to the off position to start scanning for networks.
  5. Select desired carrier.

 

Switch 2G / 4G

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings > Cellular or Cellular Data.
  2. If you have an iPhone with an eSIM, tap the line you're making changes to.
  3. Tap Cellular Data Options.
  4. Follow the steps below depending on your device:
    • iPhone 6 or later: Tap Voice & Data and choose from the following:
      • LTE, VoLTE on
      • LTE, VoLTE off
      • 4G
    • iPad and iPhone 5s or earlier: Tap Voice & Data or Data and choose from the following:
      • LTE or 4G
      • 3G
      • 2G

 

Turn on / off airplane mode

Airplane mode turns off wireless connections. This allows app and menu use, but prevents voice or Internet use.

  1. From any screen, access the Control Center:
    • iPhone X: Swipe down from the upper-right corner of the screen.
    • iPhone 8 and earlier: Slide your finger up from the bottom of the screen. If a small arrow appears, slide your finger up again.
  2. Tap the Airplane Mode icon.

 

Turn on / off data roaming

Follow these steps to turn off data roaming. If roaming in a Simple Global country with iOS 10, you must turn off mobile data to prevent data usage.

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings > Cellular or Cellular Data.
  2. If you have an iPhone with an eSIM, tap the line you're making changes to.
  3. Tap Cellular Data Options.
  4. Drag the Data Roaming slider to OFF.

 

Turn on / off mobile data

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings > Cellular or Cellular Data.
  2. If you have an iPhone with an eSIM, tap the line you're making changes to.
  3. Tap Cellular Data to turn on or off.

 

Turn on / off LTE

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings > Cellular or Cellular Data.
  2. If you have an iPhone with an eSIM, tap the line you're making changes to.
  3. Tap Cellular Data Options, then tap the Enable LTE toggle.
