Buttons and icons

There's a lot you can do with your new device, so here's a quick glance of some basic items:

Do not disturb: No notifications on the device
Wi-Fi: In range / connected
Battery: Charging / full
Mode: Portrait / Auto-rotate
Location services: On or off on the device
Data saver: Enabled on the device
Airplane mode: No connections. Cannot make calls, send messages, or connect to any device or Wi-Fi
Alarm: Set on the device
Bluetooth: On / connected to a device
Signal: The number of bars indicates the signal strength of your cellular service. If there's no signal, "No Service" appears

 

 

First time use

When you first turn on your new device, you may see a setup wizard to help get started. Take a look at the steps below to walk through the setup process if needed.

  1. Insert your SIM card, then press and hold the Power button to turn on your device.
  2. Choose your language, then tap START.
  3. Tap your Wi-Fi network to enter the password and connect. Otherwise, tap Use mobile network for setup.
  4. To copy your Apps, photos, contacts and more from a previous phone, tap Next and follow the on-screen instructions. Otherwise, tap Don't Copy.
  5. Sign in with your Google account, then tap Next and agree to the Google terms of service.
  6. Choose which Google services you want to enable. Make sure to scroll all the way to the bottom, then tap Accept.
  7. To set up a fingerprint, tap Set Up and follow the onscreen instructions. Otherwise, tap Skip.
  8. Review the additional apps screen and check any apps you want to install, then tap OK.
  9. Choose if you want to use Voice Match to access your Google Assistant.
  10. Tap to add a card to Google Pay. Otherwise, tap Skip.
  11. Tap to set up any additional options, like adding another email account or changing your wallpaper. If you're done, tap No Thanks.
  12. On the Privacy agreement, tap Accept and Continue.
  13. Choose if you want to have news and updates emailed to you, then tap Next.
  14. Review and agree to the T-Mobile Device Data Collection agreement, then tap Next > Accept > Accept.

 

 

Transferring data

  1. Sign into you Google account on the old phone select the options to back up.
  2. You can install Google Photos on both devices for easy photo transfer.
  3. Move the SIM card from your old phone to the new one if they are the same size. If they are not the same size, use the SIM card that came with the new phone. 
  4. Follow the setup wizard and sign into the same Google account you used for previous phone when prompted
