Use these steps to support network settings on the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G.

 

APN & data settings

To set the Access Point Name (APN) and turn on data settings, follow these steps:

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  2. Tap Settings > Connections > Mobile networks > Access Point Names.
  3. If available, tap the T-Mobile US LTE (the bullet point fills with blue). If not available, tap ADD.
  4. To reset your APN settings, tap Menu > Reset to default.
  5. Verify and update the following settings for the Data APN:
    • Name: T-Mobile US LTE
    • APN: fast.t-mobile.com
    • Proxy: <Not set>
    • Port: <Not set>
    • Username: <Not set>
    • Password: <Not set>
    • Server: <Not set>
    • MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
    • Multimedia message proxy: <Not set>
    • Multimedia message port: <Not set>
    • MCC: 310
    • MNC: 260
    • Authentication type:<Not set>
    • APN type: default,supl,mms,xcap
    • APN protocol: IPv6
    • APN roaming protocol: IPv4
    • Turn APN on/off: APN turned on. <greyed out unless there are multiple APNs>
    • Bearer: Unspecified
    • Mobile virtual network operator type: GID
    • Mobile virtual network operator value: 544D
  6. Tap Menu > Save.
  7. Tap the desired APN profile you want to use. The bullet point fills with blue next to the APN profile.

 

Manual network selection

The device detects and registers on wireless networks inside T-Mobile’s calling area, but roaming networks are usually restricted to T-Mobile SIM cards. You can manually select a network only in areas where T-Mobile does not own GSM spectrum.

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  2. Tap Settings > Connections > Mobile networks.
  3. Tap Network operators > Search now > OK.
  4. The device disconnects from the current network and searches for available networks.

 

Switch 2G / 3G / 4G LTE / 5G

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  2. Tap Settings > Connections > Mobile networks
  3. Tap Network mode, then select desired setting:
    • 5G/LTE/3G/2G (auto connect)
    • LTE/3G/2G (auto connect)
    • LTE/3G (auto connect)
    • 2G only

 

Turn on / off airplane mode

Airplane mode turns off wireless connections. This allows app and menu use, but prevents voice or Internet use.

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  2. Tap Settings > Connections > Airplane mode.
  3. Tap the Airplane mode switch to turn on or off.

 

Turn on / off data roaming

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  2. Tap Settings > Connections > Mobile networks.
  3. Tap the Data roaming switch to turn on or off.

 

Turn on / off mobile data

Turn on

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  2. Tap Settings > Connections > Data usage.
  3. Tap the Mobile data switch to turn on.

 

Turn off

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  2. Tap Settings > Connections > Data usage.
  3. Tap the Mobile data switch to turn off.
  4. Review the 'Turn off Mobile data?' message, then tap Turn off.

 

VoLTE settings

VoLTE is enabled by default on this device, but the settings are not able to be changed.
