Device tutorials and user guide

No matter what you want to do with your new device, we have plenty of resources available to help you get on your way.

First time use

When you first turn on your new device, you might see a setup wizard to help get you started. Take a look at the steps below to walk through the setup process.

  1. Make sure the battery and SIM card are inserted.
  2. If necessary, tap English and then select your desired language.
  3. Tap Accessibility to adjust any necessary accessibility settings.
  4. Tap Next.
  5. If necessary, tap the Wi-Fi Switch ON to turn on Wi-Fi. Then tap an available network to connect to.
  6. Tap Next.
  7. From the 'Samsung account' screen, choose one of the following options:
    • If you have a Samsung account, tap Sign in to sign in to your account. Follow the prompts
    • If you want to open a new Samsung account, tap Create new account and then follow the prompts.
    • Tap Skip to log into or open a Samsung account later.
  8. Tap Yes to log in to your Gmail account. Tap No if you do not have a Gmail account.
  9. If you tapped No in step 8, tap Get an account to open a new Google account and then follow the prompts. Otherwise, tap Not now to open a Google account later.
  10. Read the 'Google & location' information and tap the Next arrow.
  11. If desired, enter your name in the First and Last fields.
  12. Tap the Next arrow.
  13. From the 'Dropbox' screen, choose one of the following options:
    • If you have a Dropbox account, tap Sign in to sign in to your account. Follow the prompts
    • If you want to open a new Dropbox account, tap Create account and then follow the prompts.
    • Tap Skip to log into or open a Dropbox account later.
  14. From the 'Learn about key features' screen, tap to learn about and adjust the key features for your device.
    Note: Swipe up on the screen to view all the key features.
  15. When finished learning about and adjusting the key features, tap Next.
  16. If desired, tap the Device name field and update your device's name. This is the name others will see when connecting using Bluetooth or other wireless connection methods.
  17. Tap Finish.
  18. Tap More info to learn about Collect diagnostics. When finished, tap Close. Your device will now open to Home screen 3.

Transferring data

  1. Sign into you Google account on the old phone select the options to back up.
  2. You can install Google Photos on both devices for easy photo transfer.
  3. Move the SIM card from your old phone to the new one if they are the same size. If they are not the same size, use the SIM card that came with the new phone. 
  4. Follow the setup wizard and sign into the same Google account you used for previous phone when prompted
