Use these steps to support network settings on the Samsung Galaxy J3 Star.

 

 

 

APN & data settings

  1. From the main home screen, swipe up to view your apps.
  2. Tap Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks.
  3. Tap Access Point Names, then tap T-Mobile US LTE.
  4. View the following settings, you can't edit them:
    • Name: T-Mobile US LTE
    • APN: fast.t-mobile.com
    • Proxy: <Not set>
    • Port: <Not set>
    • Username: <Not set>
    • Password: <Not set>
    • Server: <Not set>
    • MMSC:http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
    • Multimedia message proxy: <Not set>
    • Multimedia message port: <Not set>
    • MCC: 310
    • MNC: 260
    • Authentication type: None
    • APN type: default,supl,mms
    • APN protocol: IPv6
    • APN roaming protocol: IPv4
    • Turn APN on/off: <greyed out unless there are multiple APN's>
    • Bearer: Unspecified
    • Mobile virtual network operator type: None
    • >Mobile virtual network operator value: <Not set>

 

Manual network selection

The device detects and registers on wireless networks inside T-Mobile’s calling area, but roaming networks are usually restricted to T-Mobile SIM cards. You can manually select a network only in areas where T-Mobile does not own GSM spectrum.

  1. From the main home screen, swipe up to view your apps.
  2. Tap Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks.
  3. Tap Network operators > Search now.
  4. Tap the desired network to connect.

 

Switch 2G / 4G

  1. From the main home screen, swipe up to view your apps.
  2. Tap Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks.
  3. Tap Network mode and choose from the following options:
    • LTE/3G/2G
    • 3G/2G
    • LTE/3G
    • 2G only

 

Turn on / off airplane mode

Airplane mode turns off wireless connections. This allows app and menu use, but prevents voice or Internet use.

  1. From the main home screen, swipe up to view your apps.
  2. Tap Settings > Connections.
  3. Tap the switch to turn Airplane mode on or off.

 

Turn on / off data roaming

  1. From the main home screen, swipe up to view your apps.
  2. Tap Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks.
  3. Tap the switch to turn Data roaming on or off.

 

Turn on / off mobile data

  1. From the main home screen, swipe up to view your apps.
  2. Tap Settings > Connections > Data usage.
  3. Tap the switch next to Mobile data to turn on or off.

 

Turn on / off VoLTE

You can't turn off VoLTE, but you can disconnect from the LTE network.

  1. From the main home screen, swipe up to view your apps.
  2. Tap Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks.
  3. Tap Network mode and choose from the following options:
    • 3G/2G
    • 2G only
