Turn off developer options

If developer options are turned on, it can cause red border on the screen, errors when connecting to computers, or other problems. To turn off all developer options, follow these steps:

  1. From the home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Developer options, if available.
  4. Move the slider to Off to disable.

 

Change language

To change the language of the device and menus, follow these steps:

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Language & input.
  4. Tap Language.
  5. Tap the language you want the phone to use.

 

Prepare the battery and SIM card

Before using the device, you need to insert the SIM card. The battery is preinserted and can't be removed.

 

Setup wizard

After turning on your device the first time, you may see a setup wizard to help you set up your device. To do this initial setup, follow these steps:

  1. Start out by entering your Google account, if available.
  2. Select the Language.
  3. Follow the remaining on-screen prompts.

 

Auto-update time (NITZ)

To set the device clock to automatically update based on what time zone it is in, follow these steps:

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Date & time.
  4. Place a check next to Automatic date and time.

 

Set time & date

To set the time and date of the device clock, follow these steps:

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Date & time.
  4. Uncheck Automatic date and time.
  5. Tap the Set date field and adjust the content.
  6. Tap Set.
  7. Tap the Set time field and adjust the content.
  8. Tap Set.
