  1. Tap Install and restart.
  2. Wait as your device updates.

Update automatically over the air (OTA) for Baseband version M8940_25.95.01.113R

  1. From the Home screen swipe up, tap Settings.
  2. Tap About phone > System updates.
  3. Follow the on screen prompts to update the device.

Update from a computer

  1. Use the OEM provided USB Cable and install Motorola Device Manager (MDM) to your Mac or PC.
  2. Connect your device to the computer with a USB cable.
  3. Install the  device drivers if its your first time connecting to your computer.
  4. Once connected, a message about updates will automatically display. If the update message does not appear, check for updates manually by clicking the Check for device update.
  5. MDM will tell you if an update is available.
  6. Follow the instructions on the screen to update your device.

 

Issues after updating

If you experience issues after updating to the latest software version, follow these steps:

  1. Wipe your cache partition to make sure that all system files on your device are put back in order.
    1. Turn off the device.
    2. Press and hold the Volume Down button, then press and hold the Power button at the same time until the phone turns on.
    3. Release the buttons when the 'Recovery' screen appears.
    4. Press the Volume Down button twice to highlight 'Recovery mode'.
    5. Press the Power button to start recovery mode. An Android robot with a red exclamation mark will display.
    6. While holding down the Power button, press and release the Volume Up button.
    7. Use the volume buttons to scroll to 'wipe cache partition' and press the Power button to select it.
    8. Press the Power button to select reboot system now. If your phone becomes unresponsive at any point during these steps, you can restart it by holding down the Power button for several seconds.
  2. If wiping the cache partition does not work, you may need to perform a master reset.
    1. Back up data on the internal memory.
    2. From the Home screen swipe up, tap Settings > System > Advanced > Reset options.
    3. Tap Erase all data (factory reset).
    4. If your phone is password protected, you'll be prompted to enter your Pattern, PIN, or Password.
    5. Tap RESET PHONE.
