Use these steps to support network settings on the Google Pixel 4a 5G.

APN & data settings

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up to view your apps.
  2. Tap Settings > Network & internet > Mobile network.
  3. Tap Advanced > Access Point Names.
  4. If available, tap the T-Mobile US (the bullet point fills) to use the preferred T-Mobile settings. You will not be able to change the default settings.
  5. To reset your APN settings, tap the Menu icon with three dots, then tap Reset to default.
  6. If you're missing the T-Mobile US APN and resetting doesn't restore it, tap the Menu icon with three dots, then tap New APN. Enter the following:
    • Name: T-Mobile US
    • APN: fast.t-mobile.com
    • Proxy: <Not set>
    • Port: <Not set>
    • Username: <Not set>
    • Password: <Not set>
    • Server: <Not set>
    • MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
    • MMS proxy: <Not set>
    • MMS port: <Not set>
    • MCC: 310
    • MNC: 260
    • Authentication type: <Not set>
    • APN type: default,supl,mms
    • APN protocol: IPv6
    • APN roaming protocol: IPv4
    • APN enable/disable: <greyed out unless there are multiple APNs>
    • Bearer: Unspecified
    • MVNO type: None
    • MVNO value: Not set
  7. Tap the Menu icon with three dots, then tap Save.
  8. Tap the desired APN profile you want to use. The bullet point fills in next to the active APN profile

Manual network selection

The device detects and registers on wireless networks inside T-Mobile’s calling area, but roaming networks are usually restricted to T-Mobile SIM cards. You can manually select a network only in areas where T-Mobile does not own GSM spectrum.

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up to view your apps.
  2. Tap Settings > Network & internet > Mobile network.
  3. Tap Advanced and turn off the switch next to Automatically select network.
  4. Select from the list of available networks.

Switch 2G / 5G

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up to view your apps.
  2. Tap Settings > Network & internet > Mobile network.
  3. Tap Preferred network type and choose from the following:
    • 5G (Recommended)
    • LTE
    • 3G
    • 2G

Turn on / off airplane mode

Airplane mode turns off wireless connections. This allows app and menu use, but prevents voice or Internet use.

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up to view your apps.
  2. Tap Settings > Network & internet.
  3. Tap the switch to turn Airplane mode on or off.

Turn on / off data roaming

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up to view your apps.
  2. Tap Settings > Network & internet > Mobile network.
  3. Tap the switch to turn Roaming on or off.

Turn on / off mobile data

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up to view your apps.
  2. Tap Settings > Network & internet > Mobile network.
  3. Tap the switch to turn Mobile data on or off

Turn on / off VoLTE

Although this device does have VoLTE, it can't be turned on or off in the settings
