Here's how it works:
First, make sure your phone number(s) are eligible for transfer to T-Mobile. If they are, start shopping for phones and plans. You can enter the number you'd like to transfer during the activation process.
Please note: Do NOT cancel your other wireless or landline account until the number you are transferring has been activated on your new T-Mobile phone.

Can I switch to T-Mobile but keep the phone number I already have?
Yes, you can usually transfer a number you have from another wireless or landline carrier to T-Mobile. Check the eligibility of your existing number in the module above. If your number is eligible, follow the instructions included in your shipment to authorize the transfer during activation. We'll contact your previous phone company to complete the transfer.
Will checking the transfer eligibility of my number affect my current phone service?
No. Checking eligibility has no effect on your existing phone service. Nothing will happen until you authorize us to transfer your number to T-Mobile and the transfer is completed.
What happens during the actual number-transfer process?
Transferring your number to T-Mobile is easy. Once you've provided your account information, T-Mobile will contact your previous phone company to complete the transfer.
Is it safe to transfer my number online?
Yes. T-Mobile's online checkout is secured by VeriSign. The information you submit is encrypted before it's transmitted to T-Mobile, meaning it's locked during the electronic transfer.
How long will it take to transfer my phone number to T-Mobile?
Transferring your existing single phone number (wireless or landline) to T-Mobile may take up to 24 hours.
Note: Once your number has been transferred, you will receive a text message to confirm that the transfer was completed.
How long will it take to transfer my T-Mobile phone number to a landline?
Transferring a T-Mobile number to a landline will take 24 hours or less.
Who should I contact if I have problems transferring my number to T-Mobile?
Details such as incorrect account number or incomplete information can delay your transfer. We will contact you if we experience a problem during the number transfer process.
