The TVision app allows you to enable or disable accessibility features, such as Closed Captioning (CC) and Secondary Audio Programming (SAP), including Audio Description.

Smart TV & streaming devices

 
Amazon Fire TV/Stick
 

To enable or disable captions or secondary audio on your Amazon Fire TV/Stick device:

  1. From the TVision app, select a show or movie to watch.
  2. While your show or movie is playing, press the down arrow on your remote so the media controls appear.
  3. Highlight and select Closed Captioning / Audio within the media control settings. Closed Captioning and audio options that are available through the show or movie will appear.
  4. Turn closed captioning on/off or select your preferred audio option.
 
Android TV
 

To enable or disable captions or secondary audio on your Android TV device:

  1. From the TVision app, select a show or movie to watch.
  2. While your show or movie is playing, press the ‘OK’ button on your remote, so the media controls appear.
  3. Highlight and select Closed Captioning / Audio within the media control settings. Closed Captioning and audio options that are available through the show or movie will appear.
  4. Turn closed captioning on/off or select your preferred audio option.
 
TVision HUB streaming device
 

Enable or disable captions or secondary audio in the TVision app while viewing a program

  1. From the TVision app, select a show or movie to watch.
  2. While your show or movie is playing, press the OK button on your remote so the media controls appear.
  3. Highlight and select Closed Captioning / Audio within the media control settings. Closed Captioning and audio options that are available through the show or movie will appear.
  4. Turn closed captioning on/off or select your preferred audio option.

Enable/disable closed captioning via the remote or device settings

  • Remote: Press the CC button. For those who may be blind or visually impaired: The CC button is the last available vertical button on the left side of the remote.
  • Device settings: Select the settings icon on the top row of the TVision streaming device Home page OR select the setting icon on your remote.
  1. Navigate down and select Device Preferences.
  2. Navigate to and select Accessibility.
  3. Select Captions.
  4. Select OK to enable or disable. The next time you launch the TVision app, closed captions will automatically appear. 
  5. To customize captions, navigate down the Captions setting – you can change the font size and select any of the color combinations listed.
  6. To further customize closed captions according to your preferences, navigate to and select Custom.

Enable / disable the TalkBack screenreader (to hear audible feedback so you know what’s happening on the screen while using the device)

  1. Navigate to your Device Settings > select the settings icon on the top row of the TVision streaming device Home page OR select the setting icon on your remote.
  2. Navigate down and select Device Preferences.
  3. Navigate to and select Accessibility.
  4. Select Talkback.
  5. Select OK to enable or disable.
  6. To customize the TalkBack, select Configuration

 

 
Apple TV
 

To enable or disable captions or secondary audio on your Apple TV device:

  1. From the TVision app, select a show or movie to watch.
  2. Perform one of the following:
    • On Apple TV 2 and 3, while your show or movie is playing, hold down the center button on your Apple TV remote so media controls appear.
    • On Apple TV 4, while your show or movie is playing, swipe up on the touch pad of your Apple TV 4 remote. 
  3. Highlight and select Closed Captioning / Audio within the media control settings. The audio options that are available through the show or movie will appear.
  4. Turn closed captioning on/off or select your preferred audio option.

 

Phones and tablets

 
Android phone or tablet
 

To enable or disable captions or secondary audio on your Android mobile or tablet device:

  1. From the TVision app, select a show or movie to watch.
  2. While your show or movie is playing, tap the screen so media controls appear.
  3. Tap the media icon in the top right corner to get to Closed Captioning and Audio settings.
  4. Turn closed captioning on/off or select your preferred audio option.
 
Apple iPhone or iPad
 

To enable or disable captions or secondary audio on your Apple mobile or tablet device:

  1. From the TVision app, select a show or movie to watch.
  2. While your show or movie is playing, tap the screen so media controls appear.
  3. Tap the media icon in the top right corner to get to Closed Captioning and Audio options available with the show or movie.
  4. Turn closed captioning on/off or elect your preferred audio option.
