T-Mobile mesh Wi-Fi extender (V2)

Expand coverage and get seamless connectivity in more places throughout your home.

Set up

  • You can set up your mesh Wi-Fi extender with an ethernet cable.

    1. Plug in the power adapter and connect it to the mesh Wi-Fi extender. Your mesh Wi-Fi extender should be close to the gateway.
    2. After the mesh Wi-Fi extender is connected to a power source, you should see the LED color change from solid white to blinking white. This takes a few minutes.
    3. Connect the mesh Wi-Fi extender to your gateway using the ethernet cable provided.
    4. Wait for the LED on your mesh Wi-Fi extender to change from flashing green to solid green. This takes a few minutes.
    5. Your pairing is now complete.
    6. You can now remove the ethernet cable from the gateway and the mesh Wi-Fi extender.
    7. Follow directions below for mesh Wi-Fi extender placement.

     

    1. Place the mesh Wi-Fi extender between your gateway and where you usually have weak Wi-Fi signal area and near a power outlet.
    2. Make sure it is in an open space and:
      • Away from devices that may cause interference.
      • Not behind TVs and monitors.
      • Not behind walls or obstructions.
      • Not behind heavy-duty appliances or electronics such as microwave ovens and baby monitors.
      • Not behind metal fixtures, enclosures, cabinets, reinforced concrete, or pipes.
    3. Once the mesh Wi-Fi extender is connected to the power source at this location, the LED should change from solid white to blinking green and finally solid green. This will take a few minutes.
    4. If your mesh Wi-Fi extender shows a yellow or red light after you plug in, then unplug it, and move it closer to the gateway.
    5. You can also use the T-Life app for optimal placement. From the Home screen > select Home Internet tile > My Wi-Fi > select the Mesh Access Point > Troubleshoot Access Point.
    1. Connect your wireless devices to your network using the Wi-Fi SSID (Wi-Fi name) and Wi-Fi Key (Wi-Fi password) of your gateway.
    2. Use the T-Life app to check signal strength.

  • The LED is located on the front of the device. The visual LED display allows you to quickly obtain the current condition.

     

    Off: Device is powered off

     

    White

    • Solid: Booting up. Not ready to pair.
    • Blinking (0.5 seconds on, 0.5 seconds off): Firmware upgrade in progress.
    • Blinking (0.25 seconds on, 0.25 seconds off): Pairing mode.

    Green

    • Solid: Good wireless connection or connected to gateway via ethernet.
    • Blinking (1 second on, 1 second off): Connecting to gateway and obtaining IP address.

    Yellow

    • Solid: Poor wireless connection

    Red

    • Solid: No Wi-Fi connection and attempting reconnect.
    • Blinking (1 second on, 1 second off): Factory reset in progress.

    Blue

    • Solid: Mesh Wi-Fi extender is in recovery mode after failed factory reset. Rebooting will clear this.

     

  • In the T-Life app

    1. Go to My Wi-Fi.
    2. Select the mesh Wi-Fi extender you want to remove.
    3. Scroll to the bottom and select Remove mesh Wi-Fi extender.
    4. Select Remove when you see the pop up Remove mesh Wi-Fi extender?
      • This may take up to 2 minutes.
      • Devices connected to the mesh Wi-Fi extender may be disconnected.
    5. Select Continue to Factory Reset your mesh Wi-Fi extender.
    6. OR unplug the ethernet cable from the mesh Wi-Fi extender and select Continue
    7. Screen displays Removing mesh Wi-Fi extender. This could take up to 1 minute.
    8. At the bottom of the screen mesh Wi-Fi extender removed message will display.
    9. Select Close.
  • You can reset the mesh Wi-Fi extender using a paper clip or other sharp object.

    1. Unplug mesh Wi-Fi extender from power and wait 30 seconds.
    2. Plug back in.
    3. Push in the reset button on back of the mesh (using a paperclip) and continue pressing until blinking white light (this can take a couple of minutes.)

Troubleshooting

    • Verify your gateway and mesh Wi-Fi extender are both powered on.
    • Try placing the gateway and mesh Wi-Fi extender in a different location.
    • Try factory reset.
    • The LED displays solid red to indicate there is no network signal, which could mean your Wi-Fi network is down due to several reasons.
    • Be sure your gateway is turned on and working properly or try placing the mesh Wi-Fi extender closer to the gateway.
    • If the connection does not improve, contact T-Mobile Internet Customer Service.
    • If the mesh Wi-Fi extender does not start, verify the provided power adapter is connected to a working outlet and plugged into the power USB-C port on the mesh Wi-Fi extender.
    • If the mesh Wi-Fi extender is connected to an outlet and power still does not start, contact T-Mobile Internet Customer Service.
    • If you feel your overall internet experience is poor, try repositioning the mesh Wi-Fi extender.
    • You can also use the T-Life app to help diagnose the issue.
