If your device is having issues, you can use recovery mode to wipe the cache partition or delete all the information.

Delete all information / reset

 

Alcatel / Coolpad

 
  1. Back up data on the internal memory.
  2. With the device off, press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys.
  3. When the device turns on and logo displays, release both keys.
  4. Use the Volume keys to highlight wipe data/factory reset.
  5. Continue using the Volume and Power keys to confirm your choice and agree to data deletion.
  6. Wait while your data is deleted.
  7. Use the Volume keys to highlight Reboot system now and select it with the Power key.
  8. Wait for the device to reset.
 

CAT

 
  1. Back up data on the internal memory.
  2. Turn off the device.
  3. Press and hold the Power key. 
  4. When the Android logo displays, immediately release the Power key, and simultaneously press and hold the Volume down key. 
  5. An 'Installing system update' message may show briefly before the Android Recovery menu options appear.
  6. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight Wipe data / factory reset, then press the Power key.
  7. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight YES, then press the Power key.
  8. When the process is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
  9. Press the Power key to restart the device.
 

Google

 
  1. Back up data on the internal memory. 
  2. Turn off the device.
  3. Press and hold the Volume down and Power keys at the same time.
  4. When you get the triangle with an exclamation point and Fastboot, release both keys.
  5. If you get an exclamation point and the words No Command, hold the Power key and press Volume Up key, then release both.
  6. Use the volume keys to highlight Wipe data/factory reset, then press the Power key.
  7. Use the volume keys to highlight Yes, then press the Power key. Wait while your information is deleted.
  8. Use the volume keys to highlight Reboot system now, then press the Power key
 

LG

 
  1. Back up data on the internal memory.
  2. Turn off the device.
  3. Press and hold the Power/Lock key and the Volume Down key at the same time.
  4. When the LG logo appears, quickly release and then re-hold the Power/Lock key while continuing to hold the Volume Down key.
  5. When 'Factory data reset' appears, use the Volume Down key to highlight Yes.
  6. Press the Power/Lock key to select.
  7. When prompted to "Erase all user data and restore default settings," use the Volume Down key to highlight Yes.
  8. Press the Power/Lock key to select and reset the device.
 

Motorola / moto

 
  1. Back up data on the internal memory.
  2. Turn off the device.
  3. Press and hold the Volume down key and the Power key at the same time until the phone turns on.
  4. Release the Power key but continue to hold the Volume down key until the Recovery screen appears.
  5. Use the Volume keys to highlight RECOVERY MODE.
  6. Press and hold the Power key. While holding it down, press the Volume Up key, then release both keys.
  7. Use the Volume keys to highlight Userdata + personalized content and press the Power key to select it.
  8. Use the Volume keys to highlight Reboot system now and press the Power key to select it.
 

Nokia

 
  1. Back up data on the internal memory.
  2. Turn off the device.
  3. Press and hold the Volume down key and the Power key at the same time until the phone turns on.
  4. Release the key when the 'Recovery' screen appears.
  5. Press the Volume down key twice to highlight 'Recovery mode'.
  6. Press the Power key to start recovery mode. 
  7. Use the volume keys to scroll to 'Wipe data/factory rest' and press the Power key to select it.
  8. Press the Volume down key to highlight 'Factory data reset' and press the Power key to select it.
  9. Use the volume keys to scroll to 'Reboot system now' and press the Power key to select it. If your phone becomes unresponsive at any point during these steps, you can restart it by holding down the Power key for several seconds.
 

OnePlus

 
  1. Press and hold the Volume down and Power key at the same time.
  2. When the OnePlus logo appears, release the Power key, but continue holding the Volume down key.
  3. At the Password screen, enter the Password or PIN number that you use to unlock your device. When done, select Ok.
  4. Choose English, Wipe data and cache, Reset everything (Music, pics, etc).
  5. Select This cannot be undone, continue?, then choose Reboot to restart your phone.
 

Samsung

 
  1. Back up data on the internal memory. 
  2. If you have signed into a Samsung account on the device, you have activated Anti-theft and will need your Samsung credentials to finish the master reset.
  3. With the device off, press and hold the Volume Up key first, then the Side key. Continue holding while the device powers on.
  4. When the Android logo displays, release all keys and wait until you get the Android system recovery menu options.
  5. Press Volume down to highlight Wipe data / factory reset, then press Side key to select it.
  6. Continue using the Volume down and Side keys to confirm your choice and agree to data deletion.
  7. When complete, highlight Reboot system now with the Volume down key and select it with the Side key.
 

T-Mobile

 
  1. Back up data on the internal memory.
  2. With the device off, press and hold the Volume up key, then press and hold the Power key at the same time until the phone turns on.
  3. When the device powers on, release the Power key but continue holding Volume up until the recovery screen appears.
  4. Use the Volume up/down key to highlight Wipe data/factory reset, then select with the Power key. If you don't get the option, select RECOVERY MODE first.
  5. Use the Volume and Power keys to confirm your choices and agree to data deletion. Wait while your information is deleted.
  6. Use the Volume and Power keys to select Reboot system now.
 

TCL

 
  1. Back up data on the internal memory.
  2. Power off your device.
  3. Press and hold the Power key and the Volume up key.
  4. When the phone turns on, release the Power key but continue to hold the Volume up key until you get the Recovery screen.
  5. Use the Volume keys to scroll to Wipe data/factory reset, then press the Power key.
  6. Use the Volume keys to scroll to Factory data reset, then press the Power key.
  7. Wait until the device finishes formatting and brings you back to the menu.
  8. Use the Volume keys to scroll to Reboot system now, then press the Power key.

Wipe cache partition

Wiping the cache partition may resolve device issues without deleting personal data. Not available on all devices.

 

Alcatel / Coolpad

 
  1. With the device off, press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys.
  2. When the device turns on and logo displays, release both keys.
  3. Use the Volume keys to highlight wipe cache partition, then press the Power key.
  4. Continue using the Volume and Power keys to confirm your choice if prompted.
  5. Wait while the cache partition is wiped.
  6. Use the Volume keys to highlight Reboot system now and select it with the Power key.
  7. Wait for the device to reset.
