Device tutorials and user guide

No matter what customers want to do with their new devices, we have plenty of resources available to help them get on their way.

First time use

When customers first turn on their new devices, they may see a setup wizard to help get started. Take a look at the steps below to help walk customers through the setup process if needed.

  1. Make sure the SIM card is inserted.
  2. On the 'Welcome' screen tap Let's Go.
  3. Choose to Copy your data from another device or Set up as a new device.
  4. Tap your Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
  5. On the 'Moto' screen tap, Accept and Continue.
  6. On the 'Google' screen, sign in with your Google account.
  7. On the 'Protect your phone' screen, tap the desired option:
    • Pattern
    • PIN
    • Password
    • Not Now
  8. Select the Google services you wish to enable and tap Next.
  9. To enable Google Assistant, tap Continue.
  10. Tap No Thanks or Yes I'm In to allow Google assistant permissions.
  11. Tap All Set.
  12. Tap No Thanks or Yes I'm In to allow Moto permissions.
  13. Tap the Agree check box, then Next to allow Device Data Collection.
  14. Tap Accept to allow Issue Assist.
  15. Tap Accept to allow Personalized Offers.

Transferring data

  1. Sign into you Google account on the old phone select the options to back up.
  2. You can install Google Photos on both devices for easy photo transfer.
  3. Move the SIM card from your old phone to the new one if they are the same size. If they are not the same size, use the SIM card that came with the new phone. 
  4. Follow the setup wizard and sign into the same Google account you used for previous phone when prompted
