Learn how to wipe the moto G7 power using the hardware keys. If the device is not working correctly, you may need to master reset it and also clear the cache partition. These two resets clear different parts of the device storage. Unlike a master reset, wiping the cache partition does not delete your personal data.

Wipe cache partition - Android 9

  1. Power off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Down and Power button for 2-3 seconds. Release when the Android robot appears.
  3. From the Boot Options menu, use the Volume Down button to scroll to Recovery Mode. Then tap the Power Button to select. If the device reboots, you may have waited too long to make a selection and you'll need to begin the process again.
  4. The device will restart. An image of an Android robot with a red exclamation mark will appear.
  5. Press and hold the Power button and then tap Volume Up button. Release both keys when the menu appears.
  6. The device will display additional menu options (text will appear in blue).
  7. Use the Volume Down button to scroll to Wipe Cache Partition, then press the Power button to select it.
  8. The device will then perform the Cache Partition Wipe.
  9. When the Cache Partition Wipe is complete, press the Power button to reboot and start the normal power up sequence.
