Learn how to wipe the HTC U11 life using the hardware keys. If the phone is not working correctly, you may need to master reset it and also clear the cache partition. These two resets clear different parts of the phone storage. Unlike a master reset, wiping the cache partition does not delete your personal data.

Wipe cache partition

  1. Be sure the phone is off.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Down key.
  3. Turn the phone on by pressing the Power key until the phone vibrates, then release Power.
  4. Continue holding the Volume Down key.
  5. Release the Volume Down button when the black screen with red and blue lines of text appears.
  6. Press the Volume Down button repeatedly until 'reboot to bootloader' is highlighted, then select it with the Power button. The device will display a white screen with colored text.
  7. Press the Volume Down button repeatedly until BOOT TO RECOVERY MODE is highlighted, then select it with the Power button.
