Use these steps to use text to speech to have messages read out loud on the HTC U11 life.

 

Set up

  1. From any Home screen, tap Messages.
  2. Tap the Compose icon.
  3. Choose one of the following options for entering the message recipient:
    1. Tap the People icon to select one of your contacts.
    2. Tap Done.
    3. Tap the 'Enter recipient' field and enter the recipient's phone number.
  4. Tap the 'Enter message' field.
  5. Tap the 'Microphone' key.
  6. Speak the desired text. You will be automatically directed back to the keyboard when you stop speaking.
  7. Tap the Send icon.

 

Text to speech settings

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Language & Keyboard.
  4. Tap Text-to-speech output.
  5. Adjust the following:
    • Speech rate
    • Pitch
  6. Change system language:
    • Tap Default language status.
    • Select the desired language.
