With the T-Mobile Test Drive, you can test the T-Mobile network for free for up to 30 days or 30GB of LTE data, whichever comes first. Even better, you can use your own Wi-Fi-enabled phone without the trouble of switching phones or numbers!

What is T-Mobile Test Drive?

T-Mobile Test Drive connects Wi-Fi-enabled phones so you can stream video, check email, browse the web, and make calls using the power of T-Mobile's network.

  • Use your current phone and phone number.
  • During your trial, multiple people in your household can try our network using one hotspot.
  • After you register online, you'll receive a T-Mobile Hotspot and setup instructions via free shipping.
  • Your trial starts as soon as you insert the SIM into the hotspot you receive and turn it on.
  • You'll receive emails from T-Mobile throughout your trial to notify you of instructions, shipping, and status.

Limitations

  • Current T-Mobile, Sprint, and Metro by T-Mobile customers or customers of T-Mobile partners using the T-Mobile network aren't eligible.
    Former T-Mobile customers are eligible, and our site will let you know if additional action is required to participate.
  • One hotspot/SIM per shipping address every six months.
  • Devices cannot be shipped to PO boxes or APO/FPO addresses.
  • 30 days or 30GB of data per trial, whichever occurs first.
  • Trial mobile hotspots are locked to T-Mobile SIMs; they won't work with any other carriers' SIMs.
  • Trial SIMs are locked to the mobile hotspot; they won't work with other devices.

 

How to redeem T-Mobile Test Drive

  1. Access our online registration form.
  2. Complete the required fields in the online forms, including your Name, Shipping Address, Email address, and your non-T-Mobile Phone number.
  3. You'll receive an email when the device and SIM ship. Estimated shipping dates are provided once you complete the online form.
  4. After receiving the hotspot, use the instruction guide found in the box to insert the SIM into a hotspot and connect to Wi-Fi. Access to T-Mobile's network may take up to two hours.
  5. When your Test Drive ends, return the hotspot to any T-Mobile store, or pass it along to a friend! A friend with a hotspot in hand can register for their Test Drive at www.t-mobile.com/testdrive and receive a new SIM card to use with the hotspot.

Redeem as a friend

If you received a T-Mobile Hotspot from a previous Test Drive participant, you can register online to receive a new SIM and start your Test Drive.

  1. Access our online registration form.
  2. Complete the required fields in the online forms, including your Name, Shipping Address, Email address, and your non-T-Mobile Phone number.
  3. Select yes to the question "Do you already have the hotspot device?"
  4. You'll receive an email when the Test Drive SIM ships. Estimated shipping dates are provided once you complete the online form.
  5. T-Mobile sends a new SIM via free shipping.
  6. After receiving the SIM card, use the instruction guide found in the box to insert the SIM into the hotspot and connect to Wi-Fi. Access to T-Mobile's network may take up to two hours.
  7. When your Test Drive ends, return the hotspot to any T-Mobile store, or pass it along to a friend! A friend with a hotspot in hand can register for their Test Drive at www.t-mobile.com/testdrive and receive a new SIM card to use with the hotspot.

 

Set up your device

Connect your device to the Test Drive Hotspot

  1. and check for signal. Be aware that access to the T-Mobile network may take up to two hours.
  2. On your Wi-Fi enabled phone, search for available Wi-Fi networks.
  3. Select the network name (SSID) and enter the Password for your mobile hotspot.

You can find the Wi-Fi Name (SSID) and password underneath the battery inside the back panel of your T-Mobile Hotspot. 

Access the hotspot Web UI Manager

The hotspot WebUI Manager is a virtual dashboard to manage your mobile hotspot’s settings, features, and security controls.

  1. After connecting the hotspot to your Wi-Fi enabled phone, open a web browser and enter http://192.168.0.1 in the address bar.
  2. Enter the WebUI password and select Login. On your first login, create a new password and log in again.

The default password for the T-Mobile Hotspot is Admin + last 4 digits of the IMEI. The IMEI is printed on the device label underneath the battery.
