LED Indicators, Ports & Buttons

 
LED Indicators
 

The front of the router has a device status LED, a cellular status LED, and a Wi-Fi status LED. Each LED changes colors and blinks or glows solid to communicate current states for the device. You can turn off the indicator LEDs in the Admin web UI with Settings > Preferences.

The two ethernet ports on the back of the router can be configured as WAN or LAN.

The FX4100 features 2 x SMA connectors for external antennas.

 
Device display
 

The device display provides device information and alerts, and allows you to perform actions, like pair with a mesh node or check for a firmware update.

  • Use the display button to navigate through the display:
    • Short press (<1 second): cycles through the display menu or submenu options.
    • Long press (>3 seconds): initiates an action or accesses/exits a submenu.
  • The device display times out after 60 seconds.

Set up

  1. Plug the power cord into the router and plug the power adapter into an AC wall outlet.
  2. Scan the QR code on the bottom of the router titled Scan for Inseego mobile app. You can also visit https://inseego.com/products/cloud-management/inseego-mobile-app/#available-now to download the app.
  3. Follow the instructions to connect to the FX4100 and identify the ideal location from the app.
  4. Optional: Register device using the admin password located on the bottom label.
  5. Optional: External Antenna
    1. Finger tighten your external antennas to the CELL1 and CELL2 external antenna ports.
    2. To enable external antennas, toggle the antenna switch on the back of the router (located between the external antenna connection ports) to Ext Ant On. The FX4100 does not have a software antenna enablement option.
    3. When using antennas, the following conditions are needed:
      • Selected antenna covers the appropriate cellular frequencies.
      • Antenna has higher gain than the device itself (including cable loss).
      • Device is in a mid to low coverage area (<~100 dBm RSRP).

No additional router configuration is needed to enable Static IP.

 

Monitor & Manage

You can manage and monitor the FX4100 remotely through Inseego Connect. This option is offered as an add-on service. You can also access the web UI on at http://192.168.1.1 for a full set of device management features. The Inseego Mobile app also offers basic device monitoring and management when accessed locally.

 
Change Wi-Fi (Access to the network) password
 
  1. Access Web Gateway User Interface (GUI): Inseego FX4100 Gateway Device by navigating to http://192.168.1.1.
  2. Select > from the Home page Wi-Fi panel or select Wi-Fi from the side menu.
  3. Select the Primary Network tab or Guest Network tab.
  4. Enter a new password in the Password Field, or you can use the Generate New Password button to insert a strong random password in the Password Field.
  5. If this setting is greyed out, first disable MLO, make changes, and then re-enable MLO. 
  6. Select Save Changes.
 
Change the Administration (Admin) password
 
  1. From the local Web UI: Select the down arrow next to Sign Out in the top-right corner of any Admin Web UI page and select Change Password.
  2. From Inseego Connect: Select Device > Admin Password from the Configure side menu.
  3. Enter your current Admin password, then enter a new password and confirm it. The new password must have a length between 14 and 32 characters and contain at least one special character and number.
  4. Select a security question from the drop-down list and type an answer to the question. Answers are case-sensitive.
  5. Select Save Changes. A confirmation appears.
  6. Select OK.

The next time you sign in to the Admin web UI, use the new Admin password. If you cannot remember the password, select Forgot Admin password. After you correctly answer the security question you set up, the current password is displayed.

 
Restore Factory Settings
 

It can take over two minutes for the router to restart after the first time a factory reset is performed. Any changes made to settings will be lost.

  1. Verify that your router is powered on.
  2. Locate the reset button on the back of your router.
  3. To reboot the router: Press the reset button for one second.
  4. To reset to factory settings: Press the reset button for five seconds until the device resets. The display will show "device initiated reset".
