Marketing Solutions CCPA Choices

Marketing Solutions, a division of T‑Mobile USA, Extends CCPA rights to all users, not just CA residents.

The California Consumer Privacy Act, otherwise known as the CCPA, became effective January 1, 2020 and grants specific rights to California residents:

  • the right to opt-out of having their personal information “sold” (as defined in the CCPA)
  • the right to know how and what personal information about them is being used
  • the right to delete personal information about them, subject to some exceptions.

The CCPA broadens the definition of “sale” and “personal information” beyond how you might commonly interpret those terms.

Under the CCPA, “personal information” includes information that is not necessarily directly tied to an individual’s identity but may be associated with a device. This includes identifiers such as IP addresses, and mobile advertising identifiers (MAIDs).

The CCPA defines “sale” as an exchange for money, or “anything of value.” This could include for instance, the sharing of your MAID between an app and its analytics providers. The CCPA also has the following exceptions to its sale rule, including:

  1. when personal information is shared with a service provider that is contractually prohibited from using the personal information for any purpose beyond the service specifically requested (“service provider exception”); or
  2. when the consumer has directed a company to disclose the personal information (“consumer directed exception”).

CCPA - Do Not Sell

Under CCPA, you have right to opt out of the “sale” of data linked to your MAID. PushSpring identifies all users by their MAID only, so the PushSpring App is the best method for us to fulfill your do not sell request. Because the MAID identifier is stable across all apps of a device, the PushSpring Privacy app can also check to verify that your MAID is in fact associated with the device you are using.

To learn how to opt-out of this sale, or other license and use of your MAID, and to download the Magenta Marketing Platform Choices app, you may visit https://www.pushspring.com/optout.html and follow the opt-out instructions. Alternatively, you can call 1-844-905-1877 and follow the instructions.

CCPA - Request to Know

Under CCPA, you have right to know how your Mobile Ad ID (MAID) is being used, which categories of personal information are being collected about you, and are linked to your MAID. We provide a list of categories of personal information collected in the Marketing Solutions, a division of T‑Mobile USA Privacy Policy. To view the data segments that are specific to you, please download the Magenta Marketing Platform Choices Privacy App first on Android or iOS.

The CCPA requires us to verify your identity before we fulfill this request. The Magenta Marketing Platform identifies all users by their MAID only, so the Magenta Marketing Platform Choices App is the best method for us to both authenticate your MAID and fulfill your request to know. Because the MAID identifier is stable across all apps of a device, the PushSpring Privacy app can also check to verify that your MAID is in fact associated with the device you are using.

Request to Delete

You also have a right to request that we delete personal data under certain circumstances, subject to some exceptions. Magenta Marketing Platform Choices App (IOS link/Android link here).
