Mark Nelson is executive vice president and general counsel at T-Mobile, where he oversees legal and government affairs and leads a team dedicated to ensuring the company does business the right way, always. In this role, he guides T-Mobile’s legal strategy to protect the Un-carrier and support the company’s success.

Mark joined T-Mobile in 2021 after more than 25 years at the law firm Cleary Gottlieb, where he specialized in mergers, antitrust counseling, litigation and regulatory proceedings. He served on the firm’s executive committee and as managing partner of its Washington, D.C., office, earning recognition from Chambers, Benchmark Litigation and Legal 500 for being one of the nation’s leading antitrust lawyers.

He has been a trusted adviser to T-Mobile for more than two decades, providing counsel on major milestones including the acquisition of MetroPCS and the historic Sprint merger in 2020. The American Lawyer recognized his work, naming him “Dealmaker of the Year” and “Litigator of the Week.”

Mark earned a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and a law degree from Harvard Law School. He is a member of the bar in Washington state, New York and Washington, D.C.
