What’s the difference between Extended Range LTE and Extended Range 5G?

Extended Range 5G is 2X the speed of Extended Range LTE. To get faster Extended Range 5G speeds, you'll need a 5G-compatible device. All of our 5G devices are also compatible with Extended Range LTE.

Is Extended Range 5G faster than Extended Range LTE?

Yes, Extended Range 5G is 2X the speed of Extended Range LTE.

How does T-Mobile’s Extended Range coverage compare to the competition?

We crush the competition when it comes to 5G coverage. With our Extended Range 5G, we cover more than twice the 5G coverage area of Verizon or AT&T. Do I have to change my plan to get Extended Range?

No, all of our rate plans include access to Extended Range. But you will need a device compatible with our Extended Range signal in order to access it. You can check to see which devices are compatible higher up on this page.

If I bring my phone will I be able to access Extended Range?

This depends on if your current device is compatible with Extended Range signal. Refer to your device specifications to see what network frequencies/bands your device supports, or refer to the device list higher up on this page.

What is the difference between 600 MHz and 700 MHz coverage today?

While both 600 MHz and 700 MHz spectrum deliver Extended Range signals that provide better coverage, 600 MHz is available nationwide for LTE and 5G-compatible devices. Our 700 MHz spectrum is available in most U.S. markets for LTE-compatible devices. We are continuing to expand our network footprint by adding new towers with our most powerful signal.

What is Extended Range 5G and what will it do for me?

Extended Range 5G is the foundation of our nationwide 5G network and brings 5G service to big cities, rural towns, and more places in between. Currently, our Extended Range 5G can deliver average download speeds 2X as fast as our LTE.

What does my device have to do with coverage?

A lot more than you think. Older devices weren't built to take advantage of the expanded network we have today. Our network is bigger and better than ever before. Can Sprint customers access T-Mobile’s 5G network?

Both Sprint and T-Mobile customers will continue to get great coverage as we continue to combine the two networks to create one supercharged network. Check the network coverage map on Sprint.com to see the Sprint coverage in your area.

Sprint customers now receive extended roaming capabilities on T-Mobile, and we’re working on ways to make it easy to migrate Sprint customers who wish to do so. With the T-Mobile Network Experience, Sprint customers can take full advantage of the T-Mobile network with a simple SIM swap.
