Direct Sales Team Awarded “Stevie” for Great Sales Performance in 2002

Bellevue — May. 7, 2003

T-Mobile USA, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of T-Mobile International, the mobile arm of Deutsche Telekom AG (NYSE:DT), today announced it won the Best Sales Team category at the American Business Awards held April 30 in New York. Nicknamed the Stevies™ for the Greek word “crowned,” T-Mobile was presented with the award by Charles Osgood, host of CBS News Sunday Morning and commentator for the CBS Radio Network.

Hailed as “the business world’s own Oscars” by the New York Post, The American Business Awards are the first national, all-encompassing business awards program honoring great performances in the workplace.

T-Mobile won the “Best Sales Team Stevie” for creating and building a Direct Sales National Strategic Accounts (NSA) team to capture enterprise and business customer market share for T-Mobile’s integrated wireless voice and high-speed data solutions.

In just one year, T-Mobile’s newly created NSA team delivered strong sales results and worked cross-functionally throughout the organization to sell and train enterprise and business customers on T-Mobile’s suite of wireless products and services. T-Mobile was first to market with a variety of wireless business products that leverage its national GSM/GPRS voice and 2.5G high-speed data network including the Blackberry™ wireless handheld e-mail solution with integrated phone, the T-Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition and the Treo 270. Other devices include wireless PC data cards from Novatel Wireless and Sierra Wireless.

“The recognition of the NSA team is not just a success for our direct sales team, but a shared win across the T-Mobile organization, based on the collaborative effort of sales, customer care, I.T., product development and marketing, and engineering,” said Michael Cote, vice president of direct sales for T-Mobile USA, Inc. “T-Mobile’s recent success as the fastest growing carrier in the U.S. is rooted in our Get More® promise to offer business customers and consumers alike the best overall value in wireless.”

Members of the Awards' Board of Distinguished Judges and Advisors and their staffs selected Stevie winners. The Board includes business luminaries such as Rich Karlgaard, publisher of Forbes; Bruce Nelson, chairman & CEO of Office Depot; marketing gurus Don Peppers and Martha Rogers; Anthony Robbins, Chairman & CEO of The Anthony Robbins Companies; Drew Schutte, publisher of WIRED; Jeffrey Tarr, chairman & CEO of Hoover’s Inc.; Sam Reese, president and CEO of Miller Heiman; and Donald Trump, chairman, president and CEO of The Trump Organization.

The elegant Stevie trophy was designed by R. S. Owens, the same company that makes the Oscar and the Emmy.
