T-Mobile USA Conducts Efforts to Support Earthquake and Tsunami Relief

January 05, 2005

Bellevue, Wash. — Jan. 6, 2005

T-Mobile USA is undertaking numerous initiatives to help provide much-needed support to the victims of the earthquake and tsunamis that struck the Indian Ocean region on Dec. 26, 2004.

"Our thoughts, well wishes and prayers are with those who have been impacted by this tragedy," said Robert Dotson, president and CEO, T-Mobile USA, Inc. "Through the efforts and generosity of our employees, T-Mobile USA, Deutsche Telekom and our customers, we will make significant contributions that will work towards helping rebuild the lives of people who have lost so much."

T-Mobile USA will match 100 percent employee donations to tsunami relief efforts from Dec. 26, 2004, until Feb. 28, 2005, up to $500,000. For every dollar contributed by an employee to any relief agency of his/her choice, T-Mobile will donate one dollar to the American Red Cross International Response Fund, aimed at helping those affected by the Southeast Asia tsunamis.

T-Mobile USA will donate 100 percent of proceeds derived from its "Get More, Give More" wireless device recycling program to the American Red Cross for devices donated through March 31, 2005. Consumers wishing to donate their old wireless devices simply need to remove all personal information from the device, and drop it off at any T-Mobile retail store. T-Mobile accepts all brands and models of wireless phones, batteries, PDAs and accessories for recycling.

T-Mobile also has added a link on the front page of its Web site, www.t-mobile.com, that directs visitors to the American Red Cross online donation form, and provides information on the wireless device recycling program.

In addition, Deutsche Telekom AG is donating one million euros (more than $1.3 million) to aid organizations that support the relief efforts. T-Mobile USA, Inc. is a member of the T-Mobile International group, the mobile telecommunications subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom AG.
