T-Mobile USA Awarded Comprehensive FTC Contract

October 19, 2010

T-Mobile USA, Inc. today announced that it has been awarded a multi-year mobility contract with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to cover the agency’s wireless service needs. Under the terms of the agreement, the FTC and its employees will have access to the full range of T-Mobile products and services – from the company’s global Wi-Fi calling capabilities and broad selection of government-approved devices to its super-fast HSPA+ mobile broadband network, which now delivers 4G speeds to more than 65 major metropolitan markets across the country.1

The first major U.S. carrier to offer Wi-Fi calling, T-Mobile helps enterprises take advantage of this technology to enhance domestic and international coverage, reduce domestic and international minute usage, increase enterprise mobility cost savings, and improve productivity benefits from open Wi-Fi access points across the globe. The company now hosts approximately 40 million Wi-Fi calls per month.

“The speed at which business is being conducted in today’s global marketplace requires government agencies to be able to react to events in real-time, no matter where their employees may be,” said David Pepe, divisional director, government solutions at T-Mobile USA. “As such, we are confident that the strength of the T-Mobile brand’s global network, industry-leading mobile solutions and customized account support model will provide the perfect fit for the FTC’s current and future communication needs.”

T-Mobile’s acclaimed HSPA+ network currently covers more than 65 metropolitan areas, not only in Washington, D.C. where the agency is based, but at field locations across the country. The company is on track to deliver HSPA+ speeds to 100 major metropolitan areas and 200 million people in the U.S. in 2010.

T-Mobile’s agreement with the FTC was awarded under the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) schedule in place since May 2002.
