Tropical Storm Barry: Preparation tips for T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile customers

July 11, 2019

T-Mobile teams are prepared and ready to help customers affected by Hurricane Barry.

Update – July 14, 2019

We are continuing to assess the full impacts of the rainfall and flooding caused by Hurricane Barry’s landfall yesterday but can confirm that T-Mobile’s network held up very well with limited intermittent local interruptions.

Over the coming days, some T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile stores in affected areas may be closed or open with revised hours. If you’d like to visit a store, please call us first to check the status of your local store.

T-Mobile teams are ready to support our customers and the local community and are working closely with local authorities to mobilize where help is needed most. Check back here for locations of where to find the T-Mobile team.

Update – July 12, 2019

Tropical Storm Barry is expected to make landfall on Saturday morning and the T-Mobile emergency response teams are standing by ready to help our customers and the community in the New Orleans and Baton Rouge metro areas.

T-Mobile teams mobilized a range of recovery equipment and supplies close to the regions expected to be most affected. These include generators, network recovery equipment and community response trucks with the ability to provide wi-fi coverage, charging stations and essentials for affected residents.

Please note, T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile stores in the Louisiana evacuation zones are expected to be closed tomorrow, Saturday, July 13th.

If you are a T-Mobile or Metro by T-Mobile customer and you need assistance with your account or service, call 611 from your handset and we will be happy to help. Non T-Mobile customers who are interested in finding out more about our services can call 1-800-TMOBILE.

We understand how important it is for customers to stay connected in times like these and remind customers on Magenta, T-Mobile One, or Simple Choice plans that they always have unlimited talk, text, and data. Metro by T-Mobile customers also have unlimited talk and text on all plans.

The first large storm of the 2019 season is expected to affect communities in the Gulf of Mexico over the coming days. We encourage our customers and the wider community in the Gulf Coast to stay safe and look after each other as much as possible.

We know that staying connected during and after powerful storms is very important. T-Mobile teams are prepared and keeping a close eye on the storm with the help of the National Weather Service so we can quickly respond to the needs of our customers in the aftermath of the storm.
