Bellevue, Wash. — Aug. 1, 2002

The promise of delivering customers a rich, wireless Internet experience on a mobile device was delivered in living color today as T-Mobile USA, one of the nation’s leading providers of wireless voice and data services, announced the immediate availability of the T-Mobile branded Windows Powered Pocket PC Phone Edition for T-Mobile and VoiceStream customers exclusively. Consistent with T-Mobile’s GET MORE service offering, the highly anticipated voice-enabled PDA gives customers a true, full color Internet experience on a mobile device, fully integrated with pocket versions of their favorite Microsoft software applications. The device is available nationally today through T-Mobile and VoiceStream Wireless sales channels and can be used anywhere across T-Mobile’s network – the only nationwide all digital GSM/GPRS high-speed wireless voice and data network in the county.

The T-Mobile brand debuted with the launch of service in California and Nevada in July and will transition the VoiceStream Wireless name to T-Mobile over the next few months, offering service in 45 of the top 50 U.S. markets.

The combination of Microsoft's Pocket PC Phone Edition software and T-Mobile's all digital wireless network enables customers to wirelessly access the Internet, secure corporate networks, e-mail, calendar and contacts from more than 8,000 cities across North America at speeds that meet or exceed standard dial-up wired connections. The highly anticipated device, priced at $549.99 with a $50.00 rebate with activation of qualified voice and data plans, is a fully integrated PDA and dual mode wireless phone. Customers can stay in touch and online with pocket versions of their favorite Microsoft software applications including Internet Explorer, Outlook, MSN Messenger, Windows Media Player, Word and Excel.

The dual band phone functionality means customers can use their T-Mobile Pocket PC device and same phone number when traveling in more than 90 countries, with voice rates as low as 99 cents a minute through T-Mobile’s WorldClass service.

"Our goal is to offer affordable, broad-scale wireless access to the information customers want and the applications they know through a broad choice of intelligent devices," said Cole Brodman, senior vice president of systems and product development at T-Mobile USA. “The Pocket PC Phone Edition is a premier addition to our line up of innovative voice and data solutions for consumers and businesses and is available today, nationwide. With T-Mobile’s high-speed wireless networks, customers can extend their familiar desktop experience beyond their home and office to get more applications and more access to content in more places.”
