NTT DOCOMO USA and T-Mobile Partner to Provide Wireless Service for Japanese Ex-Pats in United States
Wireless leaders eyeing future collaboration opportunities in United States
NEW YORK - September, 9 2013 - NTT DOCOMO USA, Inc. and T-Mobile US, Inc. (NYSE: TMUS)today announced a new partnership to strengthen DOCOMO's network service for hundreds of thousands of Japanese expatriates in the United States.
The partnership, which could expand over time, demonstrates NTT DOCOMO USA's commitment to grow its existing MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) business, which was launched in 2011. By the end of the year, NTT DOCOMO USA anticipates it will deliver service over T-Mobile's nationwide 4G network - providing access to a rich and compelling mobile experience for existing customers - while also attracting new customers. NTT DOCOMO USA will offer customers a wide variety of new pricing plans and options.
For T-Mobile, the deal brings another strong brand into its growing MVNO partner portfolio and opens the door to further work with Japan's predominant mobile phone operator, NTT DOCOMO.
