MetroPCS Aggressively Expands, Adding 15 New Markets; Triples Reach to 45 Markets across the United States just Six Months after T-Mobile-MetroPCS Combination
T-Mobile continues rapid network migration with more than 1.5 million MetroPCS customers transitioned to its nationwide 4G LTE network
BELLEVUE, Wash. – Nov. 5, 2013 – After a busy summer growing its MetroPCS brand in new cities across the country, T-Mobile (NYSE: TMUS) is taking another big leap forward, expanding MetroPCS to 15 new markets – tripling its brand presence, ahead of schedule, to 45 markets just six months after the completion of the T-Mobile USA and MetroPCS combination.
Beginning Nov. 21, MetroPCS expects to roll out more stores in 15 new operating markets, bringing 4G LTE service to even more value-conscious consumers across the US. T-Mobile has also continued to make rapid progress on network migration, with more than 1.5 million MetroPCS customers already transitioned to the T-Mobile network. All markets now have access to T-Mobile’s advanced nationwide 4G LTE network and legacy markets have seen average 4G LTE data speeds up to 7X faster than previously experienced.
“Back in July, we said we were on an aggressive path to being the #1 prepaid brand in the nation and we beat our own timetable by accelerating our additional expansion in 2013 – tripling our markets in less than six months,” said Tom Keys, MetroPCS COO and executive vice president. “We’ve also seen tremendous consumer response to our ‘$40, period’ offering in our new markets as consumers realize the great brand value we bring to their neighborhood coupled with the speed and coverage of T-Mobile’s advanced nationwide 4G LTE network.”
Now more than ever, convenience, choice and flexibility are absolute musts for people who demand more for their hard-earned money. Starting at just “$40, period,” MetroPCS will offer access to affordable service plans that deliver 4G LTE speeds with unlimited data, talk and text on T-Mobile’s nationwide network – taxes and regulatory fees included. These plans and services will be available to the following markets, beginning Nov. 21:
Albuquerque – Santa Fe, NM
Cincinnati – Dayton, OH
Denver – Colorado Springs, CO
El Paso, Texas – Las Cruces, NM
Louisville – Jefferson County, KY
Oklahoma City, OK
South Bend – Fort Wayne, IN
To fuel this expansion, MetroPCS has bolstered its distribution in these soon-to-be launched markets through a network of authorized dealer locations that will extend its current total distribution footprint to more than 8,000 points of sale in its retail portfolio by the end of the year.
In addition to a strong lineup of phones, including the iconic Samsung Galaxy S 4 and other 4G LTE Android(TM) – powered smartphones, MetroPCS delivers more choice with its “Bring Your Own Phone” program, enabling consumers to pair their compatible smartphones with MetroPCS’ nationwide 4G LTE network and service plans.
