As potentially historic flooding threatens communities across southwest Colorado, T‑Mobile’s emergency team is coordinating with state and local emergency management officials to support critical communications needs in the Pagosa Springs area.
Our teams are mobilizing resources, including deployable cell sites and satellite backhaul technology, to help maintain and restore connectivity as conditions evolve. Teams are preparing to move emergency network equipment into the area as soon as weather and road conditions safely allow.
Behind the scenes, T‑Mobile’s AI-powered [Self-Organizing Network](https://tmobile-newsroom.wistia.com/medias/mo96mmphvr) (SON) continuously monitors network conditions and automatically optimizes performance, helping our network adapt as conditions change.
We’re working closely with local officials to assess road conditions and safely position resources where they’re needed most. We’re also closely monitoring flooding across the broader region, including New Mexico and Utah, and stand ready to respond as additional needs arise.
T‑Mobile’s [T-Satellite](https://www.t-mobile.com/coverage/satellite-phone-service) service offers another layer of connectivity, allowing customers with the service and a compatible device to send messages via satellite when traditional cellular coverage is unavailable. Wireless Emergency Alerts can also reach compatible devices over satellite, regardless of wireless provider.
Staying connected is especially important during emergencies, whether it’s reaching loved ones or accessing critical services. Our teams are also standing by with resources such as charging trailers and Wi-Fi connectivity to assist communities as needs arise.
We encourage people in affected areas to take a few simple steps to stay connected:
- __Stay charged:__ Keep phones and portable power banks charged when it's safe to do so. Use battery-saving mode to extend battery life.
- __Stay informed:__ Keep emergency alerts enabled and follow updates and evacuation instructions from local officials.
- __Stay connected:__ Save important contacts and consider texting if calls aren't going through. Keep devices and chargers protected from water.
The safety of residents, first responders and our teams remains our top priority. We encourage everyone in affected areas to follow guidance from local emergency officials. We’ll continue monitoring conditions and share updates as our response progresses.
