Deutsche Telekom to Provide $2 Million to Help Hurricane Katrina’s Smallest Victims

Funds to Support Educational Needs of Children in Affected Areas

Bellevue, Wash. — Sep. 2, 2005

Deutsche Telekom AG, parent company of T-Mobile USA, Inc., today announced it plans to donate approximately $2 million (USD) to assist in supporting the educational needs of children affected by the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. The company said it is exploring the specific form its donation will take and plans to announce those details as they become available.

"On behalf of Deutsche Telekom employees around the world, I want to offer my sincerest condolences to the people of the Southeastern United States for the tragic loss of life and devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina," said Kai-Uwe Ricke, Deutsche Telekom's chairman of the board of management. "Consistent with our longstanding commitment to education, we look forward to providing assistance to children in the affected areas."

In addition, Deutsche Telekom is calling on its employees around the world to donate to the relief effort; these donations too will be matched.
